Thinking of introducing a 'contact book' for all the children & parents. Basically, a small book which will sit in a plastic wallet with the child's name on and any general comments from staff or parents can be added. Obviously, if there was a real problem then parents would still be aware that we offer an 'open door policy' and they can talk to any member of staff at any time. Help!! I have a nursery class of 3 and 4 year olds and am once again stuck for an idea for an assembly. I always get to this time of year and forget that its our turn creeping up on us. We usually act out a favourite story and sing a song, but just wondered if anyone else had any brilliant new ideas. Most of the children speak English as a second language so it has to be fairly simple!! Thanks!

What would your ideal 0 to 1 year old room have in it? I am looking for ideas on resources (not too expensive, but the odd 'wish list' item is fine), things hanging from the ceiling, things on the walls, etc. Look forward to your ideas.

The Ofsted standard states that the size of a group must not exceed 26. Therefore, how come I have come across 3 nurseries recently where the size of one or more of the groups is above 30? I am confused
