Quick! Get To Toys 'r' Us!

Last week we had to say goodbye to our beloved pink bike. The children all took their time saying bye, had one last turn, and then it was ceremonially put in the dustbin........ Imagine our joy when today a Toys 'R' Us flyer appeared as if by magic advertising a trike nearly the same (not pink boo hoo) but with a break and a handle (if you need it). When have they ever sold anything that cheap? Well, needless to say I bought 2! Easy to assemble, boxes will be fun too. I'll post tomorrow and tell you how they go down with my little consumers!

Hi On wednesday i am carrying out a staff meeting around some case studies, the case studies are examples of situations that could evolve in nursery. Each case study has a set of questions to answer. I plan to orgnaise the staff into teams of three, (four staff each) there are three case studies, and i will give staff time to look at the case studies and answer the questions. We will then get together and talk about the staff answers. I have devised an staff meeting evaluation sheet, mainly because i need to be able to evidence the meeting for EYP, but also because i think it will be useful. I have attatched the evaluation form, could you kind people look…

Hi everyone As some of you will know, we received an inadequate result in our nursery education a few months ago and are busy in the process of getting things back on track One issue that we have found is that we seem to be having a problem with the length of time that the children are able to concentrate for. Due to the children being able to roam freely around the workshops, not receiving a great deal of adult interaction or direction, they were literally just flitting from one thing to another, never seeing an activity through to the end. On a temporary basis we have started to split our sessions into 20 minute intervals where the children decide at the …

Parents Questionnaires
by Guest- 8 replies

I was just wonder if anyone had an example of a questionnaire that they send out to parents, regarding the service they offer, child's progress, etc etc My next assignement is on 'commuicating with parent's' but I am hoping that it will also give an insight into what they really think!!. I find that in my setting, parents cannot wait to rush out the door, they dont ever read the notice boards and often when a letter's been written and handed directly to them, they still dont seem to read them or take in the information!!?? Thank you in advance Jenni B

How do you have your setting laid out? In the 6 areas of learning, the different uses as in the early excellance centre? the different types of play i.e role play, small world, construction, messy etc... We are trying our best to make the room as appealing and manageable as possible, its not easy as we have to accomodate the out of school children later on too, but we are trying to ensure that the areas are managable, the sections can be overseen maintaining the ratios as much as possible, and that they are effective in encouraging the children to explore the setting and equipment naturally. I am probably making it harder than it needs to be but im on a mission to m…
