Hi all, My child who is 19 months has been attending nursery from 11 months. He started off in the baby room and moved to a brand new toddler room when the new deputy manager started. This move went really smoothly and my son has always loved going into nursery. For the past month however he has not had a 'base' room. Some days he spends all day in the tweenie room (large room approx 15-20 kids) and some days he spends the day in the toddler room (4 children. Over the last month his behaviour has gradually got worse (at home not nursery) and he is now crying each morning when my Mum takes him into nursery. Not quite sure how it works in nurseries and don't want …

What sort of footware do you use in your baby room for the under 2's? I have been working in a Children's Centre today and wore slippers (not own) and now my back hurts. Now I remember why I don't ware them, unless they have a hard sole and a very small heal to support me. I was thinking of buying one of the following: slippers like my mums with a hard sole and supportive, outdoor shoes like ballet shoes but use them indoors only, slipper socks over my own socks. I seem to remember having lots of problems waring slippers in the past. TIA Beth I just read this back and sorry for all the spelling mistakes.

Hi I manage a childrens centre who does not except education funding as this is allocated to the school. We recently had a visit from our EDO who was very negative and reduced my staff to tears.(some where valid points but not bad practise just ways to improve and we are a new staff team and setting) After speaking to other providers who have had dealings with this person it turns out she is not liked by the majority of settings and that she has no idea how to communicate with people and has satisfaction in reducing staff to tears. I did wander wether we had to had the involvement of a EDO as we do not get NEG funding. can anyone suggest what I should do as my staff are …

Hi all long time no speak. Been extremely busy since our new Deputy arrived in Jan. He's got my Pro. Development going full staem ahead. But I digress.... In my group, I have a lad who is exremely good at drawing. Not neccessarily representational images, though he does do these, but very intricate and gridlike systems within his various dinosaurs, men etc. When it comes to looking at pattern, space and shape, he is able to replicate these very accurately for a 3 year old.. He also loves and is very addept at , making representational pictures with 2D shapes. He loves jigsaws and has brgun to make his own. My reason for this rambling is, to ask how I can devel…

Help!

Hi Wondered if you could give me your views in a situation we have found ourselves in at the moment in our setting. Chickenpox has been doing the rounds the past few weeks and on Monday we had a parent bring her little boy to nursery saying he had chickenpox and the spots had appeared on Saturday (less than 2 days ago) but she was adamant that her child was well enough for nursery and he didn’t have any spots visible eg on face and hands. She promptly left leaving her child in the care of ourselves knowing full well he is still infectious. After a little while he was looking a pale and under the weather. As I feel we have a duty of care to the other children and sta…

When a child starts at our nursery we have a booklet which has a picture of them on the front, information about things they like to do etc inside , We also keep something nice they have done during their time at nursery in here, also it has a printed form for a 2yr old assessment and then a 3 year one and then the Foundation stage profile kicks in, does anyone have anything similar that I could take a look at- in the hoping it will insire me to change ours as its one of those jobs I mean to do but never seem to get around to doing as there are soooooooooooo many others things to do on this never ending list!
