Religion Question Please

Hi I am just collating information from our child profile/admissions forms. One of the questions asks what religion the child is. We would like to know what the difference is between Christian, Church of England, Protestant and Catholic? As practitioners do we need to be aware of any particular beliefs etc of the different faiths? None of the staff seem to know and generally regard them as all very similar Any information would be very greatfully received Many thanks

I have a parent who has point blank refused to pay what he owes in fees and notice period costs.he took his child away from us because he found a cheaper setting, but gave no notice. He has signed our contract which clearly states we require one months notice in writing if a child's sessions are to change, or they are leaving the group. He's had two reminders which he's ignored.I saw him this morning, and gave him a reminder to pay, and he told me less than politely, what I can do with it, he has no intention of paying, AND.........................if I pursue the matter, he will tell Ofsted that his child was injured in our care and I did nothing about it, including lettin…

I cant find these people on the web. They currently are the registered provider of a nursery based on a school site in another part of Birmingham. They are going to be setting up a nursery in our local primary school, in direct competition with playgroup. I'm interested to know more about them, fee's, age ranges etc. A web site would be good. Thanks

Hi all I'm about to start our inspire workshops with the parents and children in our Nursery and I wondered if any of you creative types had ideas for an activity. As it will be the run up to Christmas we thought of doing a Christmas themed activity. Possible decoration?? or other Christmas themed link. It needs to be fairly simple to carry out in an hours session and something that they of course could also try at home. Ideas of what and how to make (if not self explanatory) would be gratefully received To get you in the mood I'm changing my avatar to a Christmas one

Special Needs Children In Nursery

Hi We are after some advice regarding a child who has just entered our Nursery during the last couple of weeks, when he turned three. He has absolutely no boundaries and throws himself on the floor or over furniture during independent play. If asked to follow a simple instruction he will run, and throw himself at things in the classroom. He doesn't interact with the other children, and has poor speech. I think that he doesn't know how to follow any sort of routines and has never experienced boundaries before. We have requested a meeting with parents, etc When parents have been in, he behaves in exactly the same way and they make no effort to control him. He ha…

Hi all We have just had some very exciting news today that the primary school I work in is going to moved to a brand new purpose built one in 2009 or when its built (could end up being 2020!) Our current one will be flattened for housing. Anyway i don't think a nursery is going to be attached, we don't have one at the moment, but a pre-school currently rents a mobile from county on the school grounds. It isn't attached to the school. So my mum runs her own pre-school and is now wondering if she can make a 'bid' to move to the new site as well. Do you think the current pre-school will automatically go or should it be a case of whoever puts forward the best plan or bid if…

Do any of you have issues with staff getting their nails done, meaning that they are long, and perhaps dangerous for when working with children? Has anyone had to enforce a rule about this? Advice please!

Licence For Xmas Producation?

HI I have ordered a song book and CD from out of the ark (i think it is).... i was going to use it for our xmas production with the pre-school room. However, the site goes on and on about licencing, and says we need a licence if the public view the show... do you view parents as public?????, also it says that if the production is recorded (even by parents) then a licence is needed. haste to add i did not purchase a licence from them, but if i really need one then i will have to go and buy one.... it just seems a bit obserd to have to have a licence to do something in our own private nursery.
