HI i work in a day nursery that opens at 7:30 and closes at 6. we have two members of staff open up at 7:30. another comes in at 8, another at 8:15, another (one or two) at 8:30 and the rest at 9. finishing shifts work at 2 going at 4:30 That would be the two that opened up!, then one (or two) going at 5, another at 5:15, another at 5:30 and the rest on till six.. graduated arrival and departure times!.... but children don't always arrive in that way. some days we may have no children at 7:30 - 8 other days we can have 8 + aged from babies to pre-school, and this number obviously grows as more children arrive..... children also leave at varying times…

HI this is really sad, but we have a thief at nursery. It has actually been going on for a while, sadly.... people have had money taken from their purses, ranging from £1 right thorugh to £40. As i say it has been going on a while, was an isuse waaaayyyy before i even started. But in the last three months about £75 has been stolen on many different occasions. We really have no idea who it is, police are not interested as we can't prove who is doing it. We have even taken to storing our bags in our rooms, but this still hasn't detered the thief, as when we are out playing etc the room would be empty and this seems when the thief strikes It annoys me to kn…

Chat With Deputy And Senior
by Guest- 9 replies

HI so after stressing loads about the atmosphere at work and the lack of support i was receiving from my senior team i decided to talk to them today. I looked at their job desrciptions today and marked off what i felt each one of them was doing okay, and which points they were not doing. I then presented this to them. My senior cried on me, which made me feel awaful but as we chatted i realsised that things ran deeper than i thought they did. She was unhappy at work, felt others didn't talk to her or listen to her and she felt unsupported by me. I was pleased to hear that she could tell me (be it through tears) that she felt unsupoprted by me (granted it …

Hi Can anyone give me any ideas on how to empty tuff spots (builders trays)? We have 3 tuff spots which regularly have shaving foam, sand, water, cornflour etc in them. They are too wide to get through the kitchen door and too wide to get through the door to the garden. If you tip them to fit through the door, half the contents ends up on the floor! They are also very difficult to clean out once they are in the kitchen. Are we the only ones who seem to have this narrow door complex? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

HI ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, staff..... i just want to cry or get damm angry, one of the two... not sure which What an earth do you do when your deputy is blatently ignoring you in parts.... i mean i gave her the planning (completed) all she had to do was carry out activity and observe... she didn't do it. This week she has done no planning.... (now i asked her if she understood it last week and she said she did) so why is she not doing it? ~ and if she didn't understand it she could have told me this week. she left a student in the room alone with the children (granted she was only in the hallway but still the student was alone). I told her not to leave this…

Water And Sand Play

Hi all, Can anyone give me info on what kind of sand and water equipment they have in their settings. We have a small, highly unsuitable sand tray and an old, quite unsafe water tray. I would like to buy a new one or two but finances are limited and one for both purposes is more likely to be bought. What do you have in your setting? Is water and sand available all the time? We are in a village hall with limited space and the added obstacle of having to get things out and put them away everyday and our outdoor space is very small. We would love to have an area especially for the purpose but it is not possible so sand and water comes out every now and then rather than all …
