Bet you can help with this....I had a CRB when I was playgroup leader, I left and than had one for the supply agency, I'm on the playgroup committee, would I have to be checked as a committee member or would they use the one for playleader, or even the agency? The playleader CRB is around 4 yr's old, the other 1 year.

Hi there one and all. Hope you are all enjoying the hols right... help needed I am changing our nursery around and want some ideas for our 4 family groups. I would like to give them colour names (red/blue/yellow/green) as our first new topic is colours. I am trying to think of something else to go with the colours that the children could identify with and maybe get a display going in each area. I was thinking of something like the red apples etc but I'm not inspired can any of you suggest anything that might work? cheers apple

Christmas Events And Funding

At our staff meeting last night we were discussing this period's 'events' Now under the funding we have to do a 14 week Autumn period. We started back on September 4th so that we got 7 full weeks in term 1. Term 2 starts on Wednesday November 1st, in line with the schools. Our intention was to break up on December 19th, a day earlier than the schools but we get no funded training days & that would make 14 funded weeks in total. We wanted to use the 19th , p.m. session as party day for all the children but that takes us over our registered numbers by about 10. We're open from 9-3, with lunch 11.30-12 noon. So the funded sessions are 9-11.30 and 12.30-3. I really di…

Has anyone had any markings done on their outdoor flooring, such as roads, etc? At the moment we use chalk/tape, etc, and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of how much it costs to get markings done professionally?

Hi all you well informed people Anyone out there (particularly in Cheshire) know where I can get a phone number or address for the yellow school bus service? Am really planning way ahead - ("next year!!") and want to give the kiddiewinks a bus ride. Somewhere along the grapevine, a friend of a friend (you know the story) has said that the school buses have fully fitted seatbelts and are desperate for business?????? On a similar theme - has anyone a contact number for Cheshire Road Safety Unit - I believe that they have mini traffic lights etc to borrow? THANKS [/i](really must get round to sorting out my avatar) ok - I know I've done something silly with…

Jolly Phonics

Hi We recently put out a 'getting to know you' sheet for all our new starters which included the usual questions 'what does your child like to play with?' etc. and we have been really surprised that quite a number of parents say that their children enjoy using Jolly Phonics at home?!?! Is this a new trend? We are a sessional pre school, and although we introduce 'letter sounds' in our play contexts we don't use a particular scheme such as jolly phonics etc. or have any formal teaching of phonics in the sessions. Just wondered do any other Pre Schools use Jolly phonics or similar, looking forward to hearing your responses - have any other pre schools come across this …

Can i please have a rant. I have spent 2 days interviewing women/girls for a job as my Senco. I had one that was so nervous and young she nearly cried, as it was her first interview. 2 that have NVQ 2's that didn't know what the foundation stage was or the national standards. and one that was a GRADUATE but no experience in child care. are there no people out there with proper qualifications!!!!!!!!!!! Urgh it was so frustrating. I have taken on a young 20 year old on a trial and after 3 days have decided that hse will have to go as she kept listening to every one elses conversations. have now found out that it was a problem at her old place as well. I had employed …

Interaction

I have lots of brilliant quotes that can be used for 0 to 3s, about the role of the practitioner in terms of their level of interaction. Some of them can be applied to the 3 to 5s, but many of them are aimed at baby babies! Does anyone have any good quotes or statements that are aimed at the role of the practioner with the 3 to 5s? I want to use them in a staff training session, and get staff to consider how their practice compares.
