What do settings do with staff certificates, e.g. qualifications, First Aid, CP, Basic Food Hygiene, H & S etc?? We have the BFH ones up in the kitchen, and I am keen to display others but you could go on forever. Any creative ideas?

Inspections

I have just found out from someone I used to work with that a setting has just had their Ofsted inspection. When the inspector arrived the children were there and the builders were wandering in and out with their equipment. The staff were sorting out the builders and hadn't got any activities out for the children - who were running riot. The children then had a meal and staff did not ask them to wash their hands first. The food was given round and their were no plates so they ate it off the table. Apparently the rest of the day went on in much the same manner, and they came out with Satisfactory!!!! How appalling!

HI I have been on a national standards training course today, and the lady doing the course showed us an example of an operational plan. compared to ours it was relativly thin. Our operational plan has loads in, mostly rubbish i might add,,,...... we have policies in there, yet we have a seperate policy folder at work (with the same policies as the ones in the operational plan) we have examples of our planning in there, yet planning can be located in the rooms anyway. so what is in yours?.... also another reccomendation on the course was to have 14 folders one for each of the national standards, and in each of those folders include copies of policies that re…

Hi I am the manager of a pre-school, committee run. We usually have our 2 and 3 year old sessions operating at different times but because we don't have many 2's on one afternoon the committee have decided to put 3 year olds in with the 2's. Some of these children were 2 in the summer holidays, so they are very young, plus we have children just 3 and older 3's mixed together. I just wondered whether other groups had their children mixed like this and how it works.

A while ago i had some leaflets at nursery (A4 size folded in half) to give the parents of a child who had been bitten. I downloaded them from somewhere and cant remember where! They were sensitively written and very reassuring for the parents, explaining that children generally bite the children who they feel most closest too etc. Unfortunately, my master copy has disappeared and i wanted to ask if anyone had anything like this in which they were willing to share

Hi, I am moving to Nursery after working in Reception for the last few years. Am getting the classroom ready and could do with some more ideas of displays to fill some of the wall space. Obviously will want lots of children's work up in the first few weeks, but trying to make the walls a bit brighter before they start. Have got a Birthday, colour, shape and number freize display but could do with some other ideas. Thanks.
