We had Ofsted last Friday. It went really well. The inspector was very nice indeed and had a long chat with us after the inspection. She talked to us about what it takes for her to award outstanding and she said when a setting is really good in everything it does then she just looks for something that gives it the wow factor. One of the wow things she likes to see is to do with engaging parents in their children's learning and she mentioned home learning packs. We have come up with a couple of ideas for low cost learning bags we can put together - who else uses these and can anyone share any ideas of what to put in them?

Evening I wonder if anybody has a introduction letter for a nursery setting that I could have a look at? I'm trying to put together something to introduce myself so that we can work in partnership. I've sent a summery of the children's learning to the nursery but had no communication back. I thought if I tried by sending something in that hopefully it will open the path for better partnership working. Thank you

Hi. Years ago we took part in Persil Fun Fit. Does anyone remember it? If so, have you got any forms, instructions, certificates etc that I could take a look at please. I remember somewhen last year coming across the folder from years ago, while having a rare de-clutter and I also remember thinking "be firm, get rid of it, you won't need it" but now I do. So if anyone can help I will be eternally grateful Thank you V

I'm thinking of trying to use the Leuven scale but have never done this before. If you use them, how do you do this? What do you do with your findings? Do you use them for individuals or groups or both? Do you find it helpful? If you're a Tapestry user, do you use the scale on Tapestry and explain this to parents? Sorry, lots of questions! Thanks in advance. :1b

Well today presents itself as a perfect opportunity to celebrate British values. To celebrate the queen becoming the longest reigning monarch we will be decorating crowns, making union jack flags and looking at pictures of the queen over the years. Any one else doing anything to mark this occasion? I have to admit I have only just decided this after watching the morning news!!

We have been given some money to spend in the nursery and we know we are lacking in multicultural things, being a rural setting doesn't help. What things are worth buying and are used on a regular basis? Thanks for the help :-)

Hi Guys I'm hoping you can help with a dilemma...... We seem to have an ever growing list from parents of things they don't choose to have their children eat. This is starting to cause issues at snack, lunch, activities etc. For example I have one who only wants goats milk, 3 no dairy, 2 only soya, 1 unsweetened soya, 2 almond milk..... Where does this end! What do you do? They are not allergies or cultural diets but purely parents preferences for the child. Purchasing all these milk products is expensive, causes lots of waste, make every session complicated. What do/would you all do? Thanks

We would like to involve the children more in preparing the snack. Any one allow the children to cut the fruit, and if so, what knives do you let them use? I am concerned that ours will struggle to cut/core apples / peel and chop carrots etc, yet I know that many settings do manage to get the children involved...I'm just struggling to work out how!

Hi all Sorry for all the posts recently. Lots of changes as we have moved premises :1b We have moved to a more local area and have access to lots of local parks, shops and other experiences. We are planning to be out and about a lot. We have got hi-vis jackets for the children as well as badges to wear with the pre-school phone number for lost children (hopefully will never be needed!) I was just wondering do those of you that go on lots of local outings have a general risk assessment for outings or do you complete one for each new place you visit? Thanks
