Floor Space Per Pupil
by Guest- 8 replies

Hi, Am new to nursery and have a question about how 'they' work the floor space out per pupil. Do the measurements include toilets, disabled toilet, kitchen and corridoor floor area? Just wondered as my working nursery space is the same as another local nursery yet they have a max of 14 children and my max is 20. I have a corridoor and separate toilets/kitchen within the room but none of this can be used by the children as equipment in the entrance corridoor (which is quite long) would pose a health and safety issue. The other nursery use the school toilets outside their room and have no kitchen room. Thanks, Helen

Staff Breaks And The Law
by Guest- 18 replies

We have been running a lunch club attached to our morning session. We then shut for 15 minutes before the afternoon session. Of course in practice we never get a break as parents are late arriving or want to chat or there is prep to do for the afternoon. However, legally we had to show a break on paper. In September we are extending to offer lunch club to both sessions meaning the preschool will not shut. We employ a LC supervisor who has been working with one staff member (on a rota basis). We are now stuck! We are aware that in reality we will all muck in and not go off for a break plus we all eat with the children so nobody will miss their lunch BUT on paper we hav…

"all About Me" Forms
by Guest- 6 replies

I know I have seen these somewhere in the dark and distant past, but I think I have saved the forms on my old PC. Does anyonw have a form that we can give to new families to fill in to make settling in easier. I have hit a blank tonight, dealing with last minute changes to policies and parent info packs, adding sesion prices, changing "curriculum" to "framework" when I refer to BTTM, increasing the odd font here and there, I'm sure you know the small changes I'm talking about. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.
