Job Discription

Hello everone, Can anyone help. Is there any chance that anyone can e mail me a copy of thier job discription if they are a Deputy supervisor in a Pre-school. I've been promoted to Supervisor and the assistant that will be taking over as deputy has said that she will not do any more work other than what is on the job discription! Even although it states that a deputy will" Fully support the Supervisor". As deputy I've fully supported my supervisor by taking record keeping home, updating policies, to name but a few. These are not on the job discription. However I would never, never, never expect someone to do this, just because I've done it. I feel as though I'm…

Hello again, A little boy (who is now a rising 5), started our Pre-school in October 2003. He is a lovely lad and over time we have got to know him quite well. Mum stayed with him throughout the session for a few months while he became more familiar with our setting. He had not attended any other setting in the past as mum felt he was not yet ready for this. He has little speech, cannot negotiate steps without help, makes little eye contact with other children, however he makes eye contact with the other adults, does not interact at all with the children and needs adult support, otherwise he is lost. We are finding it difficult to give him this as we have 26 (…

Difficult Parents

Does anyone have this problem...? We have a parent who constantly brings her child in 15-30 minutes late. We have usually finished registration and are ploughing through news/interest table etc. The aforesaid mother knocks on our door, a member of staff gets up and lets her in then while she is helping her child get her indoor shoes on, the younger sibling wanders around playing with all the things that have been put out. Then the child starts crying at the prospect of her mother leaving, mother hovers around for a bit longer then when she finally goes the child cries for at least half an hour and on and off throughout the day. At the end of the sessions the mother tu…

Hello again. Does anyone work in a day care setting and work full time. The reason I'm asking is that I've been offered a job working 9 hours a week as a room leader. I'm not entirely sure if this is for me. The responsibility sounds a bit scary, as do the hours. I suppose it's because its out of my 'comfort zone'. I work as a deputy supervisor in a pre-school that offers sessional care to 3 - 5 year olds and I've been working there for 3 1/2 years. I love working with children, and will miss the children that I'm currently with dearly. But I've got to be honost as the main reason for changing jobs is the money (have you seen the prices of houses out the…
