I am going to start doing some basic in house training with my staff. I need to get back to basics with my two unqualified staff and want to do some training on the EYFS. Such as the areas of development, COEL, writing relevant observations etc. They have both been on courses offered by our county but I still feel that I am banging my head against a brick wall!! Has anybody got any training resources that they use that you could signpost me to. Or any ideas of activities I could do at one of these sessions. This is a new experience for me to be in the training seat!! Any ideas would be most welcome. :1b

I entered our details for the competition in the under fives magazine and have just found out that we have won!! So excited as I never win anything. Our prize is the Boogie Mites ready for school pack (worth £108). Love what I have seen of Boogie mites in the past but always thought we could never afford it. Think I may go and buy a lottery ticket now!!!

We have a sand kitchen which is really popular and well resourced. We now want to set up a mud kitchen down the other end of the playground. I have read lots of articles and fully appreciate the benefits of these. I would love to hear any tips that anyone has in setting up and resourcing this area.

I attended my safeguarding refresher day yesterday and have to say was not impressed. In my county the safeguarding training is now done by a different company. And for your refresher you have a choice of three different trainings that all focus on a different area. I went on the parental mental illness one. Don't get me wrong the trainer was great and it was interesting but... I want to be able to take my safeguarding policy and ensure that is up to date and relevant. Be updated on any new services, contacts, numbers, referral forms etc. Come away 100% confident that I know processes for recording and referring. Network with other early years practitioners. Instead…
