Hi All, Its carnival time again in our town and our nursery always takes part in the procession. This year we are doing a walking procession with a support vehicle - the theme is Carnival of nations. I am feeling completely uninspired with the theme, what can we do that is fun and understandable for our 2-4 year olds? We need to decorate the support vehicle and dress up in costumes.... the staff have various concerns regarding stereotypes etc with this theme. Any ideas would be really welcomed Thank you everyone xxx

Just wondered if/how settings get to see children's 2 year check ups? We take 3 year olds and so far only 1 parent has offered to share. We have a child who joined us at Easter and we feel it may help to see the 2 year check.

Hi, I hope this is in the right area :1b but we have had a volunteer for the best part of a year and he is leaving on 11th July 2015. He volunteered two years ago after GCSE's and has recently come back in his gap year. I say volunteer but we had staffing issues after Christmas and he stepped up to be a paid member of staff and has gone down a storm (especially with the boys). He is going to Uni to study Biochemical Medicine and we would like to get him a present to thank him for all that he is done and hopefully to remember us by. Do we A) do him the general leaving present of a card and handprints from all the children or B) speak to his mum to see …

So excited, we have just received confirmation that we have received the whole amount of a grant that we applied for. And the order has gone in for a whole pre-school set of community playthings blocks!!! How lucky are we? Have wanted these for so long, they will be delivered after half term. Just the right timing for our huge group of four year old boys. (just hope they like them)

Many of our children bring the most unhealthy lunches to pre-school and we have tried requesting healthy lunches in our newsletters, menu ideas, change for life leaflets in the hopes that some parents may change their children's lunches but to no avail. As a team we have discussed a no chocolate policy but feel many of our parents will strongly object! Someone has suggested doing a parental survey suggesting a no chocolate policy but setting the survey out in such a way that the parents agree. I don't know where to start does anyone one have one that they are willing to share please. Thanking you Radish
