After good and faithful service plus quite a few epoxy mends by my husband, our water tray has finally died. We had a clear, rockface one on a folding stand. Spent extra and also have the lid, as you do. Why can't I just replace the tray? I don't want another stand. I've searched hard but can't find one. Can you help? I'm fed up with looking now and feeling very discouraged. We don't have much money and I'd really like to have the same clear tray. Amazingly its lots more money than the coloured plastic version which is also unfair. Sorry, rant over. If you can help please let me know!

Can anybody either recommend a good book or share an in depth policy for Behaviour please. Behaviour is getting a bit out of hand now and having sat back and observed I realise we don't have consistent messages coming from all staff; an example being if children are running around the room we should tell them to stop and then we walk in the hall, but not all staff do it. We have all done Early years Behaviour management training, however to be honest whilst ok it was more about why children may behaving the way they do - not about promoting positive behaviour So how do you ensure all staff are singing off the same hymn sheet so to speak?

HI everyone I have searched and searched but cant find the post about this although I know there was one. My committee are trying to sort out their DBS checks. We know that Ofsted no longer do them and they have said direct to Capita. Capita are trying to charge them £58. Now I know there was a big thread on here about committee's not needing to pay as they are volunteers and would only need to pay the admin (about £8) I haven't imagined this I know I haven't! We are right aren't we? who does everybody else use as if Capita really wont do them for less we will have to find someone who will.

We have taken part in the Save The Children fundraiser today, I want to be a...... Great fun and as children arrived at nursery this morning dressed up as Doctor's, Vet's, Fire fighters, Police constables...we had a great idea Why don't we write to Ms Truss to suggest how nursery schools could replace Connexions with a nursery careers advice centre............just add it on to the offer in More Great Childcare One little boy will be heartbroken to find out there may be not the requirement for Dinosaur Tamers though

What would you do?? One of my Mums is going to defer her sons place at school this September and send him to a setting which is run outdoors and is very free and relaxed. (in my opinion lacks discipline) He is currently splitting his time between us and them. Mum has messed around with his sessions so much that even I am now unsure when he is going to be here!! This boy has always struggled to control his aggression and to make friends. When he was attending every day we were really making progress, now he is back to two days he is back to square one. He is very strong and lashes out, he does not really choose to play with others but you can see that he wants to. He …

We are struggling to come up with ideas for our sand / water tray that will interest children.. We have a tray with either sand or water (we have one or the other, not both at the same time) and shelves next to it with all the usual continuous provision things - pots, scoops, jugs, funnels, utensils, sieves etc. etc. We sometimes add small world resources. We find that unless there is an adult present, children revert to really low-level, tipping and pouring type play or put everything in the tray! We are looking for ideas for sand and water in the true (ABC Does!) sense of continuous provision i.e. continuing the provision for learning in the absence of an adult. …

Hi I'm after some advice, we have a boy who is 4 in August, he is still in nappies. Mum suggests each holiday that she is potty training but he always returns in nappies and mum requests we leave him be and don't encourage the use of the toilet. Mums contacted me today to say she's attempted training again over the holiday and he's just not ready, he will not go to the toilet all day for a wee and is only doing a poo every other day. She says she's contacted the health visitor who tells her to keep him in nappies as he's clearly not ready for toilet training, but if he can hold it all day surely he must be aware and therefore potty trainable? This seems odd…
