Hi All Wondered if anyone could help me; if I was hoping to purchase a nursery, would an accountant be able to give me a valuation of the business based on the accounts? Or would I need a specific business valuer to look at it? Any advice gratefully received! X

Can anyone recommend a basic book (or other resource) that explains how the EYFS works - areas of learning, Characterisitics etc. We have a new member of staff who is level 2 but hasn't worked very much with the EYFS. We will do some in-house training but I really need something to base it on. I ordered Understanding the Revised EYFS by Helen Moylett as this was recommended but it is very wordy and a bit too 'advanced' Any suggestions?

Just looking for some help...In our welcome packs we have a very outdated "all about me form" that the parents fill in. I really want to replace this with something that I can sit down and fill out with the parents. Ideally I want this to be my first "starting points" assesment, so it would need to have some formal structure to it. Does anybody have anything suitable that they would be prepared to share? I would be sooooo grateful. :1b :1b

Hi Was just wondering whether any of you have artificial grass down. There is a large area at nursery that doesn't get used in wet weather because it is much too soggy and a bit of a risk to those going onto it. When artificial grass is wet, I've been told, it is very slippery ?? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks V

HELP!! We have a child who comes to us for three full day sessions a week at present. Her parent emailed me out of the blue last week wanting to change her sessions for this coming week to three morning sessions only and then for her not to come at all during August as they have family looking after the child, but want her space back in September. I have told parent we need one months notice to change her sessions and that she will still be charged throughout August for her space. How would any of you deal with this? Have I done the correct thing? Thank you for any help/advise

I have worked with children for over 16 years but have recently had my first experience of working with an EAL child. We're in a rural and not very diverse area! Our LA no longer has a support service for EAL but suggested a primary school that may help ( we're a school nursery) as our school had ( amazingly) no experience of EAL. They came to visit and brought various written guidance which we've read and seemed generally impressed with what we are doing and how we were getting on! However, the child has no English at all. His parents speak a bit of English and have lived locally for several years. They knew 6 months before he came to us that we had no experience of EAL…

Hi all, Our improvement advisor has been in recently and has said we should be defining the different sections of the room better. At the minute we have our home corner and cosy corner sectioned off but that's it. We are a pack away setting so the 2 of us have to set up the room each morning. We haven't got funds to purchase room dividers and such. How do other pack away setting divide the room into different areas? Any ideas or even pictures would be most appreciated! Thank-You

I never know what to write and very often just end up talking about the same thing the chair of the committee does. I mean just what do you write, year after year does anyone do any thing fun for this????
