Hi, We are having an Arctic Theme at Nursery next week and wondered if any of you would like to share your ideas? We have set up an Arctic Small World area and decorated our circus tent to look like an Igloo. Have lots of books and photos up around the setting. Any activity ideasyou may have would be fab. Thank you in advance.

Hi all Just wondered what others felt about this situation today. We have, as I am sure we all have, a policy that no parent is allowed to be out of our sight when with other peoples children. So on parent help days we make sure we can see them at all times, never let them go outside without a member of staff there and obviously make sure they don't take children to the toilet. Now this has never been a problem and most parents understand and we have managed to make sure we watch without making them feel watched, untrusted or uncomfortable. However we have quite a few children who are all related to each other in the setting at the moment, six children to b…

head has finally got round to organising next year and wants all 36 children in within 5 days. 26 new children to start, so 8/9 start each day over first 3 days, with all 26 in wednesday and thursday, then older ones join them on friday. 3 staff. i feel this is too fast, and doesn't allow time to support tearful ones, or anxious adults. what do you all do? do you have them in for while 3 hours straight away too? our reception class do a week of mornings, a week of afternoons, then full-time. so ours are in and doing whole session before them, which seems a bit odd...............x

Hi all We have a couple of new 2yr olds at our setting who keep drawing and painting on the walls. We have had 2yr olds before but they haven't done this- thankfully! We run from a village hall and the caretaker is not very happy with it- especially last week with purple felt pen in the hallway that wouldn't come off! There is only the 2 of us in one room with 2-5yr olds but we are within ratio. Any advice on how to stop them doing this- other than putting the felt pens away as I don't feel this is fair on the older children who like to use them. Thanks

Hi, I wondered if any nurseries used school or non-public pools for swimming, and if so do you always have a qualified lifeguard/instructor? Thank you

Well done to everyone who supported - signed and shared the Ratio Petition(s) and helped secure a 'victory' There is now a NEW petition calling on the government to STOP LISTEN and CONSULT regarding More Great Childcare... again across the sector as it affects nurseries, childminders, pre-schools, play-schools and most of all the children This is the petition link: do sign and do share - with colleagues, settings, (ex) clients, friends, neighbours, family, EY teams, CDO's - Everyone... http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/department-for-education-stop-the-implementation-of-more-great-childcare I know its seems like petition after petition but we …
