just looking at our on entry bits for rising 3's and wondered what your understanding of the folowing is? 'recites some number names in sequence' (from 22-36 band). we perceive it as saying numbers 1 to 5 in order, as random numbers is band below and 30-50 is recite 1 to 10. or arw we being too stringent? what do you think?

I am looking at creating some exploration and investigation boxes for pre-school to use in our investigating area and also outside. I’m a bit stuck on what ‘themes’ I could use for the boxes. I have thought about: · Exploring Sounds box (saucepans, metal/plastic bowls, spoons, echo microphones) · Exploring Outdoor Materials box (leaves, conkers, pine cones etc.) · Discovery bottles box · Den making box (materials, pegs etc.) Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

Just spotted this; Ofsted – Revised Inspection Framework for Children’s Centres The revised inspection framework for Children’s Centres was published earlier this week and can be found at: http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/framework-for-childrens-centre-inspection-april-2013 http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/childrens-centre-inspection-handbook-for-inspections-april-2013 http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/inspection-of-your-childrens-centre-april-2013 The trio mutually link and the new framework mutually links with the current one (while it is still published): http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/framework-for-childrens-centre-inspection-march-…

Just wanted to know your thoughts please. We have had 5 enquiries over the last 2 weeks from parents all wanting to start their children at Pre-School after Easter - fab you would think BUT all 5 of these children are all 3 years old and will all leave for school nursery in July. Staff already have 10 each on their team and they only get paid 1 hour a week to do folders which have to be done at home. BUT we do need the money!! So would you take these children on, knowing they will leave 4 months later?

Hi A group of our children were talking about their favourite colours, the cars their parents have and the pets they have. Where would you put this in development matters? I was thinking UW- people and communities 30-50 months- Knows some of the things that make them unique, and can talk about some of the similarities and differences in relation to friends or family?

Career Dilema
by Guest- 15 replies

Ive got a bit of a dilema...... I run my own business as a child minder and work 55-60hrs a week (not including courses and paperwork etc). To be honest Im getting a bit fed up of it really and its my own fault. Some of the parents take advantage ie arriving at 7.09am when their start time is 7.30am! The same family have also asked me to give their child breakfast at 7.30 as they 'dont have time'. They then tell me the child is getting up at 5am, how can they not have time in 2.5hrs!! Ive just let it go though and now its too late to do anything about it. Anyway, I have been looking at finishing child minding and working outside the home. I am applying for a …

Hi! I work in a a maintained nursery with there being just me and the teacher ( we have a volunteer for 1 morning and 1 afternoon each week who does cooking!), so 1:13. Since our Ofsted put a very heavy focus on EYFS Phonics we are under massive pressure to cram a huge amount into 3 hours. We have children from 3 - 4+, so quite a range. We had always done a group activity, varying each day so sometimes a maths theme, sometimes UW and so on, with a story, then did a phonics phase 1 activity at the end of each session. We did this in 2 groups . so 1 would be those going to school in Sept, and the other our younger children. In between we did free flow in/out with the …
