Hi All, We have been given some money and have arranged to take our children to Twinlakes for a day trip in 4 weeks time. I have been myself not long ago and have now got to do a risk assessment! I don't know where to start- there are so many risks. We do have enough adults going to have 1 adult per 2 children and 2 first aiders coming. Any advice please! :1b

Dear all, I was doing a search for which union I could join, but couln't find anything obvious. I work in a Private Nursery, so UNISON won't work, I am not a QTS, so NUT won't either. What have others done? thanks for any tips in the right direction. x Titania

We have a couple of children who have just learnt how to do threading. I can't see where in the development matters i could link this too? I was thinking physical development due to the use of fine motor skills but can't find anything linked to threading! Where would you put threading?

Have spoken to a social worker who is working with one of our families. The great news is that she is handing over to a support worker as the family are doing so brilliantly. I am unable to make the meeting due to staffing issues next week. She has asked me to write a report of how the child is doing. I have never done one of these before and was wondering if it is acceptable to send his EYFS progress check as this would show that developmentally he is right where he needs to be and also a more personal report which would focus much more on his PSED. Any advice or a diffrent format suggestion would be much appreciated. Should just say that it was never really a child…

I was doing invoices at the end of each week BUT 1. I was spending a whole chunk of my precious weekend working with books (not my strong point!) 2. Some of my parents (despite my procedures and contracts outlining the facts) were treating my setting as a babysitting - no show = no payment. I then gave them 2 months notice and changed to Invoicing once a month in advance. Some parents are still paying weekly but on time. Thats fine, but I only receipt once a month. Some parents are now 2 months in arrears. Some parents are not paying in advance. Still paying once a month at the end of each month. If I have changed my payment policy and parents have all sig…

Hi all, We are looking into getting a mobile classroom built and hoping to place it on the grounds of a local primary school and plan to offer pre-school sessions in the morning and an after school club. Has anyone got any advice on how to approach the schools? and what we need to ask them etc.? Also, any ideas of how we can get the money? our only idea at the minute is to get finance from the building company (they do offer this option) or a loan from the bank I know there is lots to think about and we want to find everything out before we get started!! Any advice at all would be brilliant :1b
