We currently get our milk through cool milk and the milk is delivered from a local dairy. We have been having real problems with the milk going off before it’s use by date and have thrown so much away. Just wondered how other settings get their milk and claim for it?

Hi We are looking into employing a supply worker, predominantly for "as and when" kitchen duties. We have advertised and a parent (whose child is leaving for school this term) is very interested. We would obviously CRB, although there would be limited child contact. However, our normal application form, seems very involved for this position. Has any one employed on this basis and have you used a full app form? or has any one got a more basic one to share? Thanks

I would like to know is it just us? Whenever we set a den up inside the following happens, children turn into wild savages inside it they then also deposit lots of toys into it which then do not get played with and end up being mistreated. I tried again this week and it sent the already very hyper girls into orbit! I read so much about the value of the communication friendly spaces and have tried many different types of den to encourage this but have never succeeded. My thought now are that the dens are too big and there is space for too many children. Wondering about looking at trying to create smaller snug spaces. Please can you share your den triumphs and disaste…

Hi We are looking at changing the name of our nursery (rebranding) to better reflect our ethos etc. When we purchased the business some 15 years ago as a preschool (which has since become a nursery) , we kept the previous preschools' name out of local respect, continuity in the community etc. We want to keep everything as it is - staff/ offer etc but want to change our name -last inspection with Ofsted graded good in 2015 Has anyone else done this? What are the implications? Would we have to completely re register with ofsted even though absolutely everything would be the same apart from a name change/refresh/rebrand? (Building, all staff etc offer and s…

I am posting on behalf of a very desperate Mum. The explanation below is her words and I would love some of your advice and wisdom so that we can try and help. Thank you in advance. I'm getting quite depressed about the pooing situation. I will try & tell you everything I can for you to relay onto the forum. So, she started potty training not long after she turned 3. She was dry very quickly & has been out of pull ups at night for well over a year now. She always pooed in her knickers. She would just take herself off & hide & do it. She has always been very scared of wanting to try & do it in a potty or down the toilet. I just thought s…

Hi guys i wonder if you might be able to tell me what the system is in your borough for identifying and assisting children with SEND needs like ADHD. So if you feel a child has an additional need that has not been identified how do you go about getting help for them? How quickly do you expect a response and how would the support be delivered to your setting? .....this is purely for my benefit ! i would just like to know what support (if any) settings are receiving. Thanks

We had our Ofsted inspection last week and the inspector wants us to record how often we check the children sleeping. Does anyone else do this and if so how often do you check and how do you record this. We are worried as its an old building we creaky floors and doors that we are going to disturb our sleeping babies, obviously we are frequently in and out at sleep time settling the babies to sleep and then usually check on them once settled every 20/30 mins. Just wondering if we should change our baby monitor for one with a video. Would love to hear what other settings are doing please.

I have read conflicting advice about document retention. Please can someone give me a definitive answer to the following two questions. How many years do you keep children’s registers for? How many years do you keep minor accident sheets for? Not interested in recommended, just the least legal obligation time! I am hoping someone can answer quickly before I start shredding!

I'm a bit conflicted. I have a family of three boys in my care aged three to eight who are gun and fighting mad. In the spirit of respecting children's choices and encouraging engagement I don't crack down too hard unless it's overtly dangerous, and if they make their own guns they can use them, but we don't have toy weapons otherwise. We've heard the arguments for not banning guns as it might damage the relationship with parents who work with fire arms (police, army and other forces for example). Increasingly though I'm hearing comments such as, 'My dad says if the cops lock us up we can just pay them off,' and other similar comments disrespectful to authority. I k…

I'm trying to find a printable copy of the SEND Assessments for tracking children in the EYFS. I do use them on tapestry but would like a copy to have to print out as and when needed. I've tried printing them from Tapestry but it's a real faff, any help much appreciated.
