Hi all this is my first ever post and needing some advice please. I'm a childminder who uses the forum and have recently been looking into software which will help me with learning journeys, next steps, assessments and most of all planning. I have briefly looked at the Tapestry and the PRAMS. Is the PRAMS software an earlier model of Tapestry or can they be used in conjunction together. I hope you can advise me on something suitable. To add to the confusion I have also had a demo of Baby days which is great. I can't fault the babydays but it has more then I need on there and worry I won't use it to its full potential and waste money. I hope someone out there can help and …

Last week I put up three copies of the same sign in different places around the setting very clearly marked "next week at pre-school" with very clear instructions and times of events, sessions that were happening this week. If I had a pound for every parent who has asked me what is going on, has looked at me in surprised disbelief when I said we were opening later today for the party and for the one that still turned up at normal time today!!! I am at my wits end to know how to get through to parents....all the info was in the last newsletter as well. Please do not suggest Facebook to notify them as I am not a fan of it. Does anybody use the text message service that …

We have a child starting soon who has an epi-pen, due to a nut and fish allergy. In the past we have struggled to get anyone down to Playgroup to train us, luckily an ex-parent who's a nurse did it for us last time (4yrs ago) however she's no longer in the area. When I updated my first aid training there was a section o Epi-pens and we got to look at them and shown how to use them - does anyone know if this is enough training? We will of course also get mums advice. Does anyone else struggle to get training on this?

The home corner furniture was bought a few years ago from one of the big catalogues (TTS, maybe? can't remember), and is now knackered. The ideal replacement would be from Community Playthings, and I'd settle ;-) for the playworks Cornwall kit http://www.communityplaythings.co.uk/products/role-play/play-furniture/C435 were it not for the price tag... £710 before VAT is just too much at the moment :-( So, looking around for a cheaper solution. Has anyone tried the Ikea kitchen in a preschool? http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S49874533/ £60, plus I'd like to go for http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S49871290/ some storage with it, for a tot…

We have a lot of decking in our outdoor play area and it has become so slippery when wet that we are currently avoiding letting the children play out ( wrong i know, but the chance of a child having a bad fall is too much of a risk). We cannot avoid the decking as it leads from the doors all the way to the play area. Has anyone successfully treated their decking with anything to make it none slip and child friendly ??? We power wash the wood and it was treated with non slip paint on treatment, but to no avail. Its not just a winter problem either !! Help !!
