Hello Everyone This is REALLY important - can you sign - whether you are a childminder, nanny, childcare worker of any description, a user of childcare.... this petition is try to stop the proposed deregulation of childminders. We minders have worked too long and too hard to have our professionalism taken away Our businesses will suffer because clients would no longer be able to claim tax credits or vouchers to pay us Do you REALLY want to be inspected by some 'network agency' that will impose their own rules and regulations upon us, most likely by people who haven't got the first idea about minders, way more paperwork Please sign this - please forward t…

Parents Questionnaire

I know this is a huge ask but would anyone be willing to share with me a parents questionnaire they would give out at the beginning of each year or when a new child starts at the setting so that you can follow a child's interests more clearly. We had an Early Years Specialist with us yesterday who asked the question "how do you know what your children's interests are? do you send out a form to the parents or what?" We of course looked stumped. We do have an All About Me form but it doesn't go into specifics rather focuses on their family details, what food allergies they may have, if immunisations are up to date, whether fully toilet trained etc but there is nothing on…

Safeguarding...who Needs To Know?
by Guest- 2 replies

Hey everyone, who should know about a child's background in terms of safeguarding issues......such as a child at risk of abuse?? Apart from the obvious management and the safeguarding Officer......Should key person and staff in the room they are in know ALL the details or that there is a safeguarding issue and they must closely observe and monitor the child's health and wellbeing, etc?? Should the whole staff team be informed even if they don't work with the child?? I'm getting really confused with procedures I don't agree with!

Hi! Just wondered how much training people have been given on the new EYFS and how this was done? I am TA ( and now an EYPS!) in a school nursery. The LA funded a training event for the Nursery and Reception Teachers and the EYFS Coordinator, but not for TAs in nursery and reception. The Nursery teacher has woked hard over the summer sorting out new record keeping systems etc for the new EYFS, together with new baselines and observation sheets etc. it obviously makes sense to her as she's spent many hours on it, but I've not had any training on it at all. I have a copy of the new EYFS and Development Matters but would've liked some proper training . Also I can…

Does anyone know of a range of information books they could recommend ie animals, insects, farm, construction etc etc. Something that would be of interest to preschoolers and answer a lot of questions that we ourselves find difficult to know too much about! We have been told to invest in good quality books but I do not really know of specific titles to look for. Thanks.

I feel so cross about a situation that happened today,i will explain as best as i can - Two children (twins) turned up for pre-school this morning which is a day they do not attend, i explained to the person who was dropping them off that its ok just for today as we have enough staff but i will ring mum later and explain that she would need to text or ring first to see if their could come in on a day they wouldnt usually attend to make sure we have got enough staff in to cover ratios, well home time came and mum turned up to collect children i said hello how are you? i wish i hadnt she started going on saying how i shouldnt of spoke rudely to this family member and sayin…
