Ideas For Resources?

We are finishing now for 2 months and instead of giving us a present one parent donated £50 yesterday. We then received an additional £100 from a bus trip outing in the local community. What could I buy? I want something particularly for the £50 that we can look back and say that was given by so and so. Any suggestions?

Room Layout - Any Suggestions?

http://www3.snapfish.co.uk/snapfishuk/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=7004256006/a=95698270_95698270/otsc=SHR/otsi=SALBlink/COBRAND_NAME=snapfishuk/ Here are the photos of my Playgroup room layout and I would seriously like your ideas on how we could improve it. As you enter in through the doorway (fourth photo in this album will show you the door) you are faced with sand, water and paint all beside each other. These cannot be changed because of the flooring and the fact that we have aprong hangers for the water and paint easel. There is a paint dryer in the corner. Our problem is the block area - the third photo shows you its position - the home corner is in the corner…

My Playgroup closes next Friday for the summer (!!!) and already I am planning for the new term. We have 8 children who were with us since September last year and are returning for their preschool year and will be joined by 5 new children aged 3 years of age. I am looking for some inspiration - here is what I have so far. We only cover the 3 areas for the first term just to help everyone settle back in to the daily routine. Personal Social and Emotional: name games eg during circle time have a ball passed while saying each other's name learning Playgroup routines ie putting on aprons, tidying up in area etc learning to dress and attend to toileting needs indepen…

I'm not sure if this has been posted anywhere else on here (and forgive me if it has). The Working Together to Safeguard Children document is being reviewed and the draft documents for consultation are available at this site: http://www.education.gov.uk/consultations/index.cfm?action=consultationDetails&consultationId=1839&external=no&menu=1 I haven't checked them out yet but as this is a document that we are all meant to be familiar with the consultation documents may be worth looking at.

We had a child attending with behaviour issues needing a 1-1. I was seriously concerned about the safety of the other children so I was reluctant to offer extra or longer sessions. I explained that I could possibly get extra funding if parent agreed to linvolve area SENCO. I have heard through the grape vine that he is attending another playgroup but mum is going to report us to ofsted because she didn't like us using words SENCO.I am ignoring her threat but her attitude has really has really annoyed me. I feel like phoning Ofsted and making them aware or shall i just push it to the back of my mind?

I am quite new to Childminding, started in January, but have worked in Early Years for 5 years. I look after a child (18 months) 3 days a week, 10 hours a day- they were my first clients, so have been with me since Jan. (I also have my own child 16 months, other mindees 20 months, and 3 years) I have been growing concerned, as the child in question is making no attempt to walk or stand, basically refusing to do so- either making their legs go loose, or digging their heels in and pulling against me if i try to get them to walk. But mum&dad come telling me how much walking is happening at home, so I began to encourage it at mine, using walkers and encouraging them to w…
