Just wondering if anyone is having the same issues with keeping dry...or our children just a little extreme in their explorations!! We have Muddypuddles waterproofs...the higher spec ones, not the lightweight ones and they just don't seem to keep the children dry. We don't wash in powder etc, just rinse off as recommended by a forest school I guess in general play during a light shower they are fine but our children are loving exploring puddles, mud etc...to the nth degree some days!! I suppose everything has their limits - any tips on how you still allow exploration but maintain a degree of comfort...and not push parents over the edge with continual dirty…

Hi, we had a very angry mum today ranting about why her child had got paint on her manchester city top...... it is red powder paint and has stained apparantly, mum has used vanish to try and remove it but no luck. do you have any suggestions i can pass onto mum to try and remove the paint? i did explain to mum that although the children wear aprons they are never 100 % protected. mum said dad would go mad....oh dear, well next time the footbal top won't be worn to nursery will it Dawn

Hi Well i received a phone call this evening (i don't work friday's) to say could i come into work tommorow because they needed to discuss an allegation with me. I asked if we could meet this evening as i am a worrier and being 5 months pregnant the last thing i need is to worry myself over the unknown, so we did meet tonight, but to be honest it was a waste of time. All i have been able to do is find out that a child has made an allegation about me to his/her parent and the parent informed nursery. Per procedure i can't know more, i have been given a copy of the procedure. I would have been suspended but i am on annual leave next week anyway. Due to the jubil…

Hi We are starting stay and play sessions on wednesday for children aged 0-5yrs. What sort of activities would you plan to do at these sort of sessions? We were thinking of a sensory/messy play activity that could be accessed by all ages? Any ideas? Thanks

We are a pack away setting with very limited storage and very nosey hall users! What sort of things do I need to keep at my setting, in terms of planning etc. for ofsted? We have a small locked file box for children's and staff's records which is kept on the premises, as well as our register, policies and procedures and first aid book. What else should be kept there all the time? Hope this makes sense! Thanks

How Do You Get A Child Out Of A Hiding Place?

Have just been attending a child protection course and rethinking the way I do things with children. Have become aware of an issue that I cannot really deal with appropriately without being seen as abusing the child if you understand what I mean ... let me explain. Child M hears the words "tidy up time" and all the children start to help put away the toys as we like to teach responsibility etc etc. We have been doing this all year since September and this child knows this. He understands the warning and that tidy up time means exactly that - everyone is to help - it is not frustration on his part in not participating but we think attention seeking. He goes into th…

We are at a very early stage with this family - the child is 2ys 3 months and has only been attending for about 6 weeks (1 and a half hours only) Straight away we picked up that something wasnt quite right with this child and her mum and there is definitely developmental issues with both of them. The child screams like a baby on and off for the whole session and wont accept any attempts to soothe her or talk to her by ANY adult. If we talk to her she will either scream or turn away. If we try to pick her up she struggles, screams and then crawls away (not walks) to the door where she will continue screaming. Her speech is very delayed - I have only heard her say mumm…

my LA is part of the new funded 2 yr old pilot scheme - was wondering if anyone on the forum has the pilot running in their area and how they are finding it ? our age for intake used to be 2:9 -we then tried taking 2 year olds + for a half term to see how we could logistically manage (minimum staff ratio, 1 room, all age ranges had to be in the same session as we couldnt afford a seperate session ) - tbh it was not easy, so we decided as a team, and the commitee agreed -to lower the admission age to 2:6. well - the commitee have now decided without consultation to lower the age to 2yr olds, to register for 2 yr old funding, and have already accepted a child meeting t…

Hi all, wasn't quite sure if this was the right place to post or if this has already been posted elsewhere so if it has please feel free to move this post if you wish. http://www.cypnow.co.uk/digital_assets/affordable-quality.pdf You may have heard in the news reference to MP Elizabeth Truss and the comments made regarding the cost of childcare for parents. I have (hopefully) attached a link to her report Affordable quality:new approaches to childcare. Please if you get a chance read it. It is only 8 pages long (not bad for a government document) but suggests future plans along the lines of and and anyway happy reading and food for though…
