Physical Exercise Indoors

We are obviously moving into weather that is not too great for some of our children to be outside in. Monday was horrendous with the rain just pelting down outside and ok we could have got them all dressed up and taken them out for a few moments and then in again but it doesn't really get rid of all that energy within the children which needs to be released. Today was extremely cold and although children were wrapped up in coats, gloves, hats and scarves one little girl did actually turn blue before she came back in!! We do have a lovely big playhouse that unfortunately stores our ride-ons at one side and a rather large sandpit in the centre of the floor in the other …

Hi everyone, I am an NQT in Nursery within a school and we have Ofsted looming! I am sooo nervous. I am feeling ok about being observed and them seeing the things that we do in the classroom but I am worried about what they are going to ask me in case I can't answer or I dry up! I don't know what to expect. So my question to everyone has been recently observed is: What will an Ofsted inspector ask me? Please help - I need my nerves settling. Thank you in advance, Sarah. x

Hi Our improvement advisor has been to visit and said we need to make our book corner more cosy. We currently have bean bags with a variety of books. We are not allowed to leave anything out so we need something thats eaasy to set up and put away. She did suggest having a story tent but we have tried that and the children (all 2yrs old) like to move the tent around and play with the tent rather than leave it in the book corner for looking at books. Any suggestions or photos of your book corners would be very welcome! Thanks

Hi all, We are a new packaway setting and are not allowed to keep displays up on the walls. We had a visit from our improvement advisor and she said we need to make some displays by the 7th of december when she visits again. Any ideas on how we can do displays that we can put up at the beginning of each session and take down at the end. We are low on funds and so any cheap ideas would be great. She also said we should have a display in the nappy changing area- what sort of display do you have in your nappy changing area? Thanks

Have I Made The Right Decision Over A Child Not Settling?

I have posted about this particular child before but on Friday made a decision which my Deputy is questioning - at 10 pm last night! The child has come with mum or granny every day since September for her 2 1/2 hour session and they have stayed every session (mum or granny). We tried the separation for a few minutes and also for a longer spell. On both occasions child screamed and cried the whole time they were away. My deputy was of the opinion that if it took until next June this was how it should be despite consulting with another Playgroup Leader who said the same as me - get rid of mum and granny asap or you will never get this child to bond and settle with us…
