Hi, I want to set up a display about the EYFS for parents. What do you have on yours? Do you display the poster? Thinking of linking photos to the principles with a little excerpt from the guidance? (I know this has been covered before but can't find the thread - sorry). Also, do you send any leaflets home - e.g. phonics etc. Do you display planning? Is it the planning as you write it or a simplified version? Thanks Green Hippo

I think if I were to ask the parents in my setting what the EYFS was they would all stare at me blankley. I always explain to them what it is on induction into the pre-school but I thikn at the time I am bombarding them with so much information they probably dont take very much in. What I would like is nothing no bigger than an A4 sheet explaining what the EYFS is. I know this is a tall order but I really dont think the majority of parents would be interested in reading any more than and A4 sheet - does one of these exist? If not does anyone know if I can directly quote off of websites like direct.gov or would that be plagerism? I want to devise something tha…

Hi all, I am feeling exhausted, a little teary and could do with some help! I started at my preschool in September, and have made some big changes to the planning and activities, which have on the whole been well received. They were always very 'adult led' activities which really were the adult telling the child where to stick things/how to make things in the past. We have this week been showing the children how to use the childrens camera and asking them to take a picture of one another to be used when making a calender to take home for Christmas. The pictures are therefore not to adult standard, and some of the staff have expressed concern that the parents wil…

Hi I am currently putting up a display for parents on EYFS but keeping it to how we put the principles into practise. just wondered if anyone has any additional ideas to make it interesting to read. I have currently split the board for ways with the headings of each theme. In the middle is a breakdown of how the EYFS works IE the themes, principle and commitments. Under each heading i thought i show ways we achieve/work towards them. Hope I am making sense?!?

Just in case you havent come across this 'hot off the press' document, at first glance it looks like a very good read. (I have only had a cursory glance at the moment) Learning Playing and Interacting: Good Practice in the EYFS What do you think?

Hey, this is my first post so I apologise now if I mess up!! I have to put together a display of my Unit's daily routine and show how it links to eyfs; I've seen one that was in a kind of spider diagram format using text explaining what each part was (e.g. sleep time, snack time, arrival of children), how it linked to eyfs/benefitted the children and with a photo of the activity next to it. I kind of just need any advice about whether you guys think this is a good way of doing it or have any suggestions of a better way to do it Would really appreciate it if someone could link me to a photo of one they have done to help me out Thank you kindly xx
