can someone confirm what is meant by 'full and relevent qualification'? i have been onto the CWDC websit to check the qualification list but i still have some questions as to what it actually means. can a memeber of staff be counted in ratios if he/she is working towards a level 3 qualification? the reason i ask this is because if he/she has not completed their qualification then surely its not 'Full' is it coming in that level 3 is the minimum qualification? and who is responsible for leading practise in the early years foundation stage? the manager, the deputy, the room leader, the EYP, the graduate with level 6 but not EYP, the practitioners, the Q…

Child-centredness And The Eyfs

Hi all This is my first time on here so I am new to this. I am currently conducting a small research project looking into child-centerdness within EYFS practice within my setting. I was curious to seek some opinions on the subject from outside the setting. There are so many defintions of child-centred practice it is hard for all to work towards a common defintion and with conflicting mesaages from the EYFS document and local government targets stressing accountbaility I was woundering how other practioners were managing what could be a dificult yet worthwhile task of remaing child-centred in pratcie. I will look forward to the comments made thanks, C

Just closing down Firefox for the night and sorting out which tabs to close when I spotted this on the CWDC website (open not because I am a CWDC anorak but becaused I linked to it in a thread earlier in the evening) Its a poster which outlines what the indicators of quality are, and also poses questions to enable staff teams to see how their setting measures up. Might be an interesting focus for a staff meeting discussion on what quality looks like, and what individual practitioners think quality provision is. Maz

Ive been told that an Ofsted inspector stated that settings must give every parent a copy of the safeguarding children policy before their child starts. I know it states that we should make available the complaints procedure and Ofsted reports but cant find the part about the safeguarding policy. Is it a requirement ?

Hi Can anyone advise me on what my child:adult ration should be? I currently have 25 children in F1 with the support of a full time nursery nurse. Ater easter our numbers are going up to 42. My head is appointing a full time T/A for these extra children but I have been told that even though it tips us over the numbers, there is no more money for another adult. Am i correct in thinking that the ration is 1:13 and over 30 there should be another teacher employed? So we should have 4 adults for 42 children.
