HI Just wondered if anyone can recommend anything? Been told by my teacher that I need to have more resources but money is tight. She recommended getting parents to read a book in home language and record...how? to then play back at setting. I only have a cd player. Parents havent got equipment and neither have we for this (yet!) Any recommendations? Looking at PENpal (think there is a cheaper equivalent) but still might be too much at £60 for my committee. Books in English and other language are about £10..could share with home? What activities do you do? We are modelling, short sentences, key words, commenting, sharing books, pausing (not questioning), signing, encour…

Hello , I am looking to support the practitioners in our baby room with providing activities for babies with English as an Additional Language. Has anybody got any ideas and want to share what they do with their babies. Currently we are looking at doing atleast 1 EAL observation a month on all EAL children within our setting, however, the practitioners in the baby room are struggling, how do you think they could get this one observation. Also.....how does everyone support children with EAL in their settings? We do a number of things but I feel we could do so much more. We care for children from babies to pre-school children. Thank you Sally

Hello everyone I have recently had a discussion with the head of room for the babies. We discussed how the practitioners in the baby room would like to receive more information and have some clarity on how to identify the characteristics of effective learning (CEL) for their babies. We have babies from 13 months to 23 months. If anyone could shed some light as it is obviously really important that we are identifying the correct CEL! Thank you

I would like to work through the statutory guidance and use it as a development plan to ensure we implement and monitor all the requirements. I wondered if anyone has a pro-forma? thanks

Hi Guys, Great feedback & advice, have used a few ideas lately. Any ideas on how you record 'next steps' for children & how you then put them into your planning? I recently had Ofsted & although we plan around observations & 2 keychildren the Ofsted Inspector said we should record 'next steps' from September. Would be grateful for any advice. Spiceye

Has anyone adapted all their observation and assessment documents in line with the new outcomes, or have you stuck with the dev matters order? Is anyone being advised by their LA that they should move over soon?
