Doubting Our Planning
by Guest- 5 replies

for each planned activity we produce a short term planning sheet, there is usually 3-5 activities in a week. on the sheet we desrcibe what the activity will be, how itl b carried out eg groups, one to one etc, what resources are needed and how itl be differntitated. for the activity we have an intended outcome- this is taken from the development matters/elg so for example an activity writing names in sand may meet the 40-60+months development matter for CLL writing. im doubting is the fact we are saying this is what we want the childrn to learn, but by writing names in the sand theyll be covering more then 1 development matter. childrens learning is interlinked a…

Have been away for a while but now getting back into the swing of things, just been on the EYFS website and noticed a new icon! How long has this been there? It's information primarily for journalists or parents - so watch out don't go moaning about the paperwork involved with the EYFS, as this new icon is telling parents/journalists that it's a myth!? Will try and attach a link... http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/eyfs/site/index.htm hope it worked? The icon is top right on page. Is this old news? Sorry if it is. I was just looking for some format/info for my parents - it would be great if the govt. were going to print this off and mail to every parent - save m…

Help please.... Firstly-Focus activity - how is this different from an adult led one? Where do these activitys come from ie are they skill based and planned in advance or are they running in conjunction with prechosen goals to be covered? At what time do you do these during your session, as we are finding with free flow we cant seem to fit it in!? Our children are 2-5 together- "Free flow" do you do this all morning or do you break into age groups at some point or any suggestions to how we could do this. It has been suggested by our early years team that the children free flow from the minute they come in at 8am until lunch time, we are trying this but its so …

Hi. I'm feeling bereft of inspiration and motivation and wondered if anyone had re-written their foundation stage policy in the light of the EYFS. I would be eternally grateful if someone would let me have a look at theirs. Many thanks.

Hi all I would really like to know what your opinion is please. I have looked at the CP sheets uploaded into the resources section and think that they are fab and am planning to use these as part of my long term planning. What i would really like to know is this; since we are supposed to be promoting self chosen activities etc should we really be planning for continuous provision on a weekly basis? Lots of the Short term plans that i have seen include all these areas every week - what they are going to put out in terms of sand, water, construction etc. In my classroom i have organised everything so that the children can access all the resources themselves. So do…
