15. The DfE is in the process of making changes to the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and, more importantly, to the non-statutory guidance Development matters. When these changes have been finalised separate guidance will be provided for inspectors on the implications of the changes. This was pointed out in one of my tweets this morning, I've pasted the above paragraph from an Ofsted resource document on inspecting schools.

Graham Stuart's advisor has now contacted me and suggested the afternoon of 16th July to come and answer our questions. So who does he need to contact to get on the forum for the afternoon please? Is it a good time or is there a better time period when more forum members are active? Now is the time to start formulating our questions and hopefully get some proper answers.

I've been looking at some of the proposals put forward by Ms. Truss which I think need clarifying. Childminder Agencies: Have all childminders been asked if they want agencies or as happened with the Northamptonshire Childminding Association have the ones who agree with the idea been asked to contribute 'NCA was asked by the DfE if any Northamptonshire childminders who are supportive or open-minded about agencies would be interested/available to meet with Elizabeth Truss for a roundtable discussion. What evidence is there that agencies will be an improvement? What research was carried out that looked at the model we currently have? Out of school clubs; Ms Tru…

gosh I hope not. ....not only do I fear for the two year olds in our settings, wish we could keep something for longer than five minutes for the benefit of our children but I also absolutely dread telling staff that we are yet again going to have to change our paperwork! I honestly am getting to the stage where I think this business is fast becoming farcical! http://www.nurseryworld.co.uk/article/1188451/question-mark-future-development-matters-guidance

Hi everyone, I am a third year speech and language therapy student at Newcastle University and am thinking about ideas for my dissertation for next year. I am very interested in writing about collaborative working between SLTs and teachers. One area I would like to investigate further is how teachers are involved in the early identification of speech and language difficulties in the EYFS. In view of the changes to the EYFS statutory framework and its emphasis on developing children's speaking and listening, I wondered if teachers feel more confident about identifying atypical development in these areas. I appreciate you are all very busy, but would be grateful if …

Hi, trying to make sure we are covering the new EYFS frame work correctly for Sept. Can my class be taught by a HLTA for PPA cover? When i read paragraph 3.37 I am pretty sure that they can't. Has anyone confirmed this with their LEA?

Have just finished reading the physical, reading and writing sections and have noticed the following Copying some letters is in PD in 30-50 Holding a pencil properly is in 30-50 Forming letters correctly is in 40-60 In reading 40-60 it says read words and simple sentences In writing 40-60 it says attempts to write short sentences We have just been ofsteded and told average on entry from nursery to reception is working within 40-60 months. Well, in the areas I've selected above, our nursery children would not be able to write in short sentences or read, other than their name and words like mummy. So they will obviously be not in line. With the reading, are nurser…

Hi all, We are trying to develop our literacy/mark making area, apart from the obvious; Pens, pencils, crayons Whiteboards & markers Blackboards & chalks We have clip boards with shopping lists & pencils in the role play corner (friut and veg shop) I would like to rack your brains for some 'out of the box' ideas to make the area more interesting and entice and engage the children! Thanks :1b
