I'm just updating our Starting School Booklet for the new children starting schol in September and I'm not sure that I've remembered all of the changes in wording in the new framework. I've changed FS to EYFS, MD to Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy and AOL to Areas of learning and Development. Can you think of any other changes? Thanks alot.

Hi, I've been working on a possible record sheet for the new EYFS. I know a ticklist approach is not really recommended, but I don't see how else we can show that children are progressing through the levels of the new EYFS without something like this. So, I've just looked at the Problem solving, Reasoning, and Numeracy area of learning. I've altered the wording sometimes, eg in the first development matters box in calculating, it says "Are logical thinkers from birth", and I've put in my record "shows evidence of logical thinking". I thought it would make it more user-friendly. I've also put in "he" and "his", (obviously I'd do a different one for the girls!) I a…

What Changes Will You Be Making?

I have not got my EYFS training until June and am implementing this in our school in reception, as well as supporting an NQT to implement it in the nursery. And I've only been teaching in Reception since September!! Initially we were told there wouldn't really be any major changes as we already had good provision. Recently however we have been told there will be lots of differences and it is going to be a big change. So, what major changes (if any) are you making to your planning, obs, provision etc to be in line with the EYFS? I have already looked at renaming our headings i.e learning intention will be development matters, assessment will be look, listen an…

Outdoor Provision

Hi Can i just ask what other providers are doing if they don't have an outdoor space. We have been told that under the EYFS we will need to take all the children out for walks everyday. we are a sessional pre-school, this will be quite hard because of ratios... at the moment when we go out we have parent helpers to help but to do this everyday isn't practical. I have been told if i cant do this i should be looking for new premises with an outdoor space... just wondered how it effects everybody else.

Suncream

We are being told by the school that we are attached to that with the introduction of the EYFS we will not be allowed to apply suncream to our children. We run wrap around care including pre-school for children from 3 as well as breakfast, lunch, after school club and holiday club for children between 3-11. Our current policy is in hot weather all children need to wear a hat and have suncream on before going outside. Parents sign a permission form and older children are supervised applying suncream whilst the little ones in the main have it applied by staff although we encourage them to dvelop independence rubbing it in under our supervision. If a child refuses that is fin…

Hi These have been mentioned in a number of posts regarding EYFS planning. Does anyone have a template of this or a website where you have been able to download the from and then edit for your own setting. I think these are important to have in the areas of learning and will work well alongside the long term planning Thanks
