I have attached a sheet that was given to me by a collegue at the begining of the year. I have found it extermely useful for prompting me when writing next steps or significant observations. I have typed it up and amde a couple of changes, but can't take credit for creating it myself...and unfortunatly I don't know who made it originally so I can't credit them. Hoever if they happen to read this i'd like to say a BIG thank you! Hope it helps Prompts_for_writing_next_steps.doc

Hi I have not posted before so a little nervous! I have worked within the foundation stage for the past 5 years. I believe the change that the new EYFS will bring is long awaited. Although we have always planned having the childrens views in mind we as a setting have failed to note this down within our planning. I have used some ideas from here and some ideas of the nursery and devised a new weekly planning sheet. It will include childrens names who will be specifically observed that week, also space for planned focused activities gathered from observations taken the previous weeks aimed towards helping children with specific needs or interests they may have.…

Hi, I'm fairly new to the forum and this is only my second posting so please stick with me on this. I have a question with regards planning in September 2008, at present I am a Deputy and helping my supervisor set up the new planning. She is saying that we need to use the new principles for example A Unique Child for our long, medium & short term planning. However other professionals that I have spoken to are still basing their planning around the six learning areas for example creative, knowledge & understanding. So as you can imagine I am now a bit confused as to which way to go with this, especially as I will be leaving in 2 weeks having been offered a Superv…

Hi, I recently attended the EYFS training delivered by my LEA and found it very informative and helpful and I have since delivered it to all my staff through in house training and have been asked to deliver it to the childcare lecturers at the local college. My deputy had the good fortune of attending the EYFS training delivered by the same LEA last week (different trainers) and I am shocked at how many things were not highlighted upon or even mentioned as part of the training. Areas not included were :- Learning Journals - not mentioned Home Visits - not mentioned Consultations - not mentioned PLODs - Skimmed over Planning - Skimmed over Parent Observati…
