I wonder if anyone can help me, to be fair I haven't spent too long looking at the statutory requirements of the new curriculum yet, (the setting I was in was due an inspection and therefore I had set up the op plan with fs,b23, and the standards etc oh and ECM) Well I need to be thinking of September and being a little bogged down with assignments for the FD was wondering how much of a difference the EYFS makes to the op plan? Is it rejigging? Placing policies in to ECM outcomes and rewording? Do I need to prepare for some major overhaul, come on give me a clue how much change should I expect? I guess I am wondering whether I can sit and go through t…

Learning Journey

Just wanted to say Hello to everyone......I became a member of your forum last week and have found such interest in the wealth of topics, advice and support you all display. It is heartwarming and reassuring to know that other practitioners face similar scenarios during what is a rapidly changing child care environment. I am a pre school manager in the voluntary sector, offering full day care for up to 24 children per session, I thoroughly enjoy my job and gain a great deal of satisfaction from providing activities and experiences for the children.... sometimes I feel a little resentful at the amount of supporting paperwork which I am required to do which takes me away f…

I wonder if anyone can help? With the advent of the new EYFS I'm looking into how I record the children's progress, and if changes in my system need to be made. Does anyone keep their records on computer.... a click of a button to record that an observation/photo was made of a child in such-and-such stepping stone/area of learning (dated)?

Should all the schools have been sent the copy of the new EYFS document by now? Is it ok to dip in and out of letters and sounds or should it be followed exactly? Oops two different questions.

Hello I am hoping someone can help. I did my last EYFS course on Monday and I am now changing our assessment sheets to incorporate some new wording. But it is all so complicated. I find it hard to understand so giving them to parents seems silly. Can anyone give me an idea how I would word this into simple language so parents can understand what we are talking about "Use intonation, rhythm and phrasing to make their meaning clear to others" I am not being mean about the parents it is just I used the word " Dimensions" with one mum the other day and she had no idea what I meant. I would hate for the parents to take away a document about their children t…

Hi Everyone, I am new to this site but think it's great!. I've just watched an interesting video on Teacher TV. It was titled 'Need To Know- Early Years Foundation Stage'. I thought some of you might find it interesting! I have copied and pasted the synopsis and included a link! (Well I hope I have, I haven't done this before! If it hasn't worked then try copying it and pasting it in the address bar) Synopsis ]Mike Baker explains what the new Early Years Foundation Stage Framework will mean for early years practitioners when it becomes statutory in September 2008. He details what you need to know about the new framework and how it will affect …

Hi everybody. I am looking at the sort of training settings are receiving with regards to the EYFS. I would be grateful if you could answer the following question: What training have you received regarding the new Early Years Foundation Stage? 1) Attended briefing session 2) Have attended training 3) Enroled on future training 4) No training planned that you are aware of I would also be grateful if you could let me know what local authority your setting is in, but this is not absolutely necessary if you don't wish to divulge this information. Many thanks Linda

the EYFS states we should 'be creating records that are clear and accessible to everybody who needs to see them' At present the childrens profile books are updated each term and a play plan is put together then the parents are invited in to share this then the term before they go to school we have an open evening where they will come and meet with the childs key worker etc but the profiles are kept in a lockible filing cabinet for confidential reasons. a parent is told continually they can ask to see the profile at any time. But is this enough ?and should we have them out all the time to allow parents and children to just pick them up and read them as they wish? What do …
