I am the FS coordinator in our school. Our unit has 4 support staff and 3 teachers. I have never done Performance Management before but know that the new EYFS asks that staff have supervision. Is this the same as PM? The head has asked me to do PM for 3 staff members anyway so will this be in addition to the supervision I am supposed to do? Do I just do supervision with support staff or all teaching staff too? Can anyone point me in the direction os advice on what I do to support supervision, is there any books/documentation I can read in addition to EYFS? I am starting to panic!!!! Thanks in advance.

Apologies if this has been asked before or is somewhere very obvious, but my head is swimming and I can't find anything today - even my scarf! I was wondering if anyone had come across or devised a table/chart/document which cross referenced the Development Matters statements. For example when I assess a child involved in reading and listening to stories I can choose to assess them against: Communication and Language; Listening and Attention; Listens to stories with increasing attention and recall and Literacy; Reading; Listens to stories with increasing attention and recall I know that there aren't necessarily that many repeated statements across the whole documen…

NEW EYFS

Hi Everybody! It's been sometime since i posted here, but think I will be back with many questions!! I have been searching the web for new EYFS information for the setting in which I work...!! Understandably there have been cutbacks in free resources since the original EYFS was introduced! What I am looking for is the large EYFS poster, which takes into consideration the New EYFS. I understand that this will now likely need to be a purchase rather than a free resource for settings...but am struggling to find a new informative poster to put in my setting. I am looking for a large one that can be part of the new EYFS display I am currently designing. …

Hi I am new to EYFS forum and also fairly new to early years teaching. I would like to do some cooking with my FS1 children for my observation next week but I'm finding it hard to work out which statements from Development Matters would fit and what my objectives for the focused session would be. Can anyone advise, I know cooking with children is a great learning experience and wonderful for language development but i need something a little more specific for my obs. Any advice greatly received : )

Hi I'm in the process of undertaking a policy update and am going to link all policies in with the EYFS under the themes and committments. Can anyone tell me if there is an updated version (2012/13) of the Themes and Committments? The only one I have found so far is the one with the four headings at the top and then 1.1 to 4.4. Hope this makes sense! Thank you :-)

I've been messing about with a design for the 2 year progress check (mainly to stop me eating any more chocolate), and you're welcome to do with it what you will. 2 year check.docx 2 year check.doc

Hi all I'm trying to write a new foundation stage policy to come in line with the new EYFS. However my head insists all policies are only 1 page long. I'm really struggle to include everything in just one side of A4. Does anyone have a FS2 policy they would be willing to share. Many thanks Lou

Translation of parents guide to EYFS
by Guest- 2 replies

Hi has anyone had any luck in translating the parents guide to EYFS into another language. I have Polish and Russian children at my nursery and during my annual conversation it was a suggested development. I have contacted the founadation years website who produce the standard guide but they say it does not come in other languages which is a bit unhelpful seeing as there are more and more children with EAL. I have searched the web and can't seem to find anything to help. Does anyone know how accurate the translater applications are? Any help would be much appreciated. Spending much too much time on this today - think I'm using it as an excuse - always seem to do this o…

Sorry that I bother again, but your kind help will be greatly appreciated. We were looking at some d.m. and were in doubt of why these appear under "Writing", especially since they already appear in "Reading" in the 40 - 60+. • Continues a rhyming string. • Hears and says the initial sound in words. (maybe hears and writes?) • Can segment (pre-writing) the sounds in simple words and blend (pre-reading) them together. • Links sounds to letters, naming and sounding the letters of the alphabet. (maybe 'and writing the corresponding letter sound?) Probably there is a simple explanation and we are just 'unfocused' in these days... LOL
