Hi all... I am sure I came across a word document from the EYFS Practice Guidance where you can copy and paste the Appendix 2 (Pages 22/23 39/40 61/62 etc). I specifically want to copy (rather than having to type it all out) the requirement parts for each area of learning... the ones that relate to what PSED/CLL etc means to the chidren; How settings can effectively implement the areas etc I have been to the standards site but can only download the Guidance in acrobat/adobe which doesn't allow you to alter the text size or colour etc. as far as my skills go anyway! Can anyone help have spent a frustraing afternoons PPA trying to find the blooking thing

We posted a link to a questionnaire from the DCFS Primary National Strategies team recently, and many of you responded by filling it out. They have now given us a summary of the results and I thought you'd like to see the main findings: 252 people responded, around 23 percent from pre-schools, 20 percent each from reception classes and day nurseries, 16 percent from maintained nursery schools and classes, 8 percent from children's centres and 12.5 percent who were childminders. Of these, around 40 percent were involved in management, 40 percent with the Foundation Stage, around 7 percent with care and Birth to Three. 12 percent were involved with 'Curriculum'…

Sorry if I'm asking difficult questions this morning! Is anyone else in a preschool setting working with feeder schools with regard to Letters & Sounds? One of ours [last year there were 7] is giving us the impression that we have the responsibilty to make sure children have covered Phase 1 by school entry. This school is talking about offering us training to help us do this! I've talked to our support teacher about this and it's a case of 'watch this space'! I've just had, hand-delivered because of the postal strike, a sheet from which summarizes Letters & Sounds Phase 1 by Aspect with a column for 'Date'. e.g. 'I can play an instrument to match the soun…

really liked the new framework was just very dissapointed that a day nursery can now alter the ratio for 3-5 years between the hours of 8-4 to 1:13 ratio if a EYPS QTS orlevel 6 equivelant is working with the children I am doing this qualification to benefit the children not to lower the atios of staff with the children. How does everyone else feel this will work.

Clarification Needed Please!

I was under the impression that the EYFS does not become compulsory until Spetember 2008 (I know this is right) but we will be using it in our setting from September (next month, I mean!). I have tried to explain why I don't think this is a good idea, but actually, will we be penalised for using it before we technically have to? Things have been hectic at work lately with new obs books being printed up and new focus activity sheets and I'm feeling a bit apprehensive about it not only because only 3 people in the whole nursery have seen the pack, but also because none of us have received any kind of training. I'm not sure what Ofsted are saying about it either, so I do…

Hiya have just received my EYFS pack and was told by the training bod that we were not to use topics with the eyfs. however i have just clicked on a link to www.bromleycma.org.uk who are advocating just that?????? I have always used standard long/medium/short term topic lead planning but this has never been rigid and really just used as a starting idea which the children develop. any comments?

Hi Just to let you know I've typed up all of the statements from the 6 areas and put them on grids as overviews - hopefully added them to the Resource library. Janine x
