Hi all, I was just wondering how many of you have already started to implement the new EYFS? I know that it shouldn't be fully in place until September but are people already relating their observaions to the new DM or still to the old one?

I know that there will be 'official' information for parents about the revised EYFS published in the summer. I imagine that will mean it is not until July / August! But I want to get ahead and produce a booklet for our parents. I also want it to be designed specifically with our families in mind, include photos of our children doing activities in our setting etc. In other words individual to our setting. I am wondering what all you folks would choose to put into it? What do you think are the things parents will most want to know? What do you think are the most important things they will need to know? All ideas gratefully received. I promise I will post the word…

Went on a training for the new EYFS this week, only to be told as soon as we got there that it was a briefing and training will not be avaliable until September!!! I cannot believe that we have to implement this in September without proper training. I asked about planning and observation formats and was told get booked onto the training for September. There were a lot of very unhappy people who left the venue that night. (50 to be exact) I did tell the lady who was sitting with me about this fab forum and I am sure she is now a member. I am so grateful for this forum which has given so much good advice and ideas that I feel confident to go ahead and just get on with do…

Okay so I have read the new Eyfs thoroughly and note that it states all staff must have food/ hygiene training if preparing and handling food. Now I have just received all my audit, Rag rating criteria through our LA and in one section it states must and in another states desirable does anyone know the truth??????? Am feeling a little cross that if it is compulsory for all staff that no money has been signposted for training. We do have our two kitchen assistants trained but what about the other 13 of us. Sorrry rant over.

If you read these news articles with the usual degree of caution, and shield your eyes from references to 'nappy curriculum' etc., the following make interesting reading: The Daily Mail The Daily Telegraph
