Hi everyone! We have a 3 year old EAL child in our setting, who is quite boisterous (and in fairness, I am not convinced that he's developmentally ready to be in the 3-5 room, but they go on birthdays). He doesn't really speak and doesn't seem to be paying attention when he's being spoken to - usless he's initiated it by getting a book and pulling my hand over to look at it with him, for example. We have other children who speak the same home language, and he doesn't speak to them either. Sometimes he's really active and just climbs or runs around, either hitting other children, strangling them, stealing their toys, glasses, pushing them over etc. I tell him "…

Hi everyone, I wonder if you can help me. I have a little boy started who was 3 in August. I am concerned he could be dyspraxia, he is unco-ordinated (he runs on tiptoes, with his wrist bent and hands outwards and he can't seem to control his movements well and ends up just running straight into the other children) he has no real concept of personal space, he's all over the other children and hits the children for no reason. He has very limited concentration yet he can identify some letters (not phonics, as he has been taught this at home). He loves scissors but I have another child having nightmares because when this boy has a pair of scissors he's all over the place…

HI Just wondering is anyone else considering (or already done!) getting rid of the rather official looking LEA IEP's We currently have two children on Early Years Action and 2 on Early Years Action Plus. They each have an IEP, the design of which is nothing to do with us but is issued by our LEA. It is very formal looking complete with LEA logo. I have never really liked the layout but that's perhaps just me, the other thing that concerns me is that I do not think it is particularly inclusive to have these 'seperate forms' and yes OK they could be added to a child's learning journey before someone suggests that We follow Area Senco advice quite closely, have a g…

Hi Happy Hols Everyone!!!! Busy planning, sorting resources etc before I "escape" to Scotland for two weeks!!!! Bliss!!! Can I just ask for comments on planning, so I can again get it right in my mind please. Would appreciate any help ta!!! I know it is very personal to each setting, and when Oftsed came they said "if it works for you and your children it is right"!!!! Is Long Term - topics, themes, festivals, important events, continuous provision etc etc Kept brief?????? Is Medium Term - dev matters focusing on that half term, some suggested planned activities (most though child led), enhancements to continuous provision, assessment opportunities etc etc…
