We have a very emotional child in our group very highly strung. she is nearly 4 and an only child. we started off with problems of her bitting, she would loose her temper very easily and then bite herself and then as she got older she started to bite the nearest child after several failed attempts to stop the bitting using behaviour managment techniques we found getting her to scream her frustration rather than bite was about the most effective alternative, basicly getting her to vocalise her anger rather than take it out on others with her teeth and with the exception of the odd relapse, screaming seems to be working very effectivly to help her release her anger (but…

Hi there, We had a little boy (Y1) join us a few weeks ago and had very little information about him. He refuses to do his work all the time until a Teacher says he must. In the last week or so, he has been having a tantrum about leaving Mum to come into school, but once inside the classroom, he's fine. We have spoken to Mum about his attitude re: work and homework and then I was socked when she spoke to me the other morning that she is trying to get a diagnosis for Aspergers as in recent weeks he has been playing up a lot. Hi Please help. I have had an awful afternoon with one child. (He has displayed lots of tantrums and hitting/throwing over past few weeks). He came to us in late February (near exclusion in his nursery class) and we have an IBP in place which I will be reviewing tomorrow. He will be transferring into school reception class in September and I will be holding a meeting with parents, SALT, EP, school to work out ways to support him into school. Have already made links with local nurture group in another school, who may be able to offer some strategies to his reception class teacher and parents/child may be able to visit nurture group together (unfortunately there…
