Whats It Called?
by Guest- 7 replies

Hi Guys, has anyone heard of the following condition and do you know what it is called? A child cannot relate to positive interaction, ie destroying work that has been descibed as good. They are comfortable with negative responses from people, being unable to cope with any positives at all. I'm sure someone will be able to help, I think it's a 'syndrome' of some description. Salsa

Joint Attention Skills

Hi. I have just received a very unhelpful Speech & Language Treatment Plan for a child in our pre-school. The SPL Therapist has not provided me with any additional information other than the targets for the child who she describes as having 'decreased joint attention skills'. As this expression is new to me I did a quick google search and frightened myself as it frequently appears alongside ASD which I had not considered for this child. He is 2 years old............ If you can give me a summary of decreased join attention skills I would be grateful!! Goodness knows what the mum has made of it too.......

Hello Need some advice. I have a 3 year old boy in my class who has autism. The big problem is me! I really dont know the first thing about it. He has 1;1 support but I feel I should be doing more. He is accessing none of the curriculum that I plan for the rest of the class and I need to learn more with regard to routines and general techniques to get him more involved in class life, rather than simply wander around the nursery. Does anyone know any good websites/books/training/agencies that would put me in the know? Heres hoping Greenhouse

We have a little girl at the setting who has developmental delays in all areas. She is 3 but developmentally around 18 months to 2 years. A lot of professionals are involved with Mum, including educational psycologists, Area SENCO, Doctors etc. We now have funding for 3 hours each day for one to one time with her. However she is with us for a full day, usually 8.30am until 5.30pm each day. It's great to have this funding, but although she is meeting her IEP targets through our hard work, now she has moved into our Pre-School room it is becoming harder for the staff to spend one to one time with her for the rest of the day, and ensure that the rest of the children get…
