Hi, In light of the new proposals for funded places for one year olds and upwards from September, Im considering starting to accept under twos. Is there an application process with OFSTED? At the moment we take two years upwards. Or do we just assess our premises, resources, staff etc and inform OFSTED of the change? I'm thinking 18 months plus rather than younger than that. Thank you.

Hi so i have been sort of pulled into being chair of a preschool and didnt realise it was as “big” of a job as it is.. so far i am doing nothing and havent for past month but it feels wrong. Can someone give me a list of things to check/do from the off? I need to try and do this as well as i can but am out of my depth

Hello 👋 Can anyone offer any advice regarding the registration process for NI playgroups? If the session runs for 2 hours e.g. 9am-11am are you required to register with your local health trust? Also is a second 1 hour session in a separate room with the same children allowed or would this be classed as 3 hours and require permission from the trust? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 😊

We currently have the PSLA 1994 constitution and need to change it to the 2011 model. I wondered at your EGM/AGM how you explained the benefits of moving to the constitution to your members? We struggle for parents to commit to being committee members and I recognise the 2011 constitution allows for staff members to form part of the committee. Are there any other benefits and ways in which the 2011 constitution makes it easier to fulfil charity commission regulations?

I have applied for, gone for an interview and accepted a job for a qualified level 3 practitioner. It's a big, well known company and I've been dealing with their compliance team for all of the paperwork. I gave all my references and filled in the paperwork but after a month I hadn't heard anything back so I called the nursery that I got the job at. They said that my level 3 isn't recognised and that they can't give me the job because of that. I asked them to double check it because it definitely is valid and I was able to speak to the compliance team and they assured me someone would ring me back but they haven't. Hi, Is there a way for staff to communicate messages to each other? We were discussing about using less paper to record notes/messages which can get lost, and thought maybe there is a way to send direct messages to each other on Tapestry so it is recorded without getting lost. Thank you.

The setting I was manager at for 20 years closed at the beginning of the summer holidays, it was owned by a church. The committee was made up of elderly church members and with no one younger to take over they made the decision to close. The closure and redundancies weren’t handled very well, so I guess I’m a little sensitive. I started my new job yesterday, I accepted a practitioner role in July. Hi All, We have some building work happening and have the chance to have new flooring in the nursery class. Do any of you have any recommendations of make/type? Ideally it would be a light colour (wood effect?) but not dentable by chairs/parents high heels etc! Thank you!
