Hi there, In the resource section there are some very useful plans which I have laminated in my setting. I took these down today and they are on my to do list before the end of term / prior to September. Is anyone planning to re- do these in the new 7 areas ?

Hi all Have been lurking with interest for a little while since taking over as a manager of a pre-school but now need some of your pearls of wisdom if possible. Can anyone tell me what the ratios are for children aged from 2 to 4 years. We have a few sessions where a couple of children are 2 years old and the rest range in age up to 4 years old. Have looked in EYFS guidance which says 2 year olds ratio is 1:4 and 3 years and over is 1:8(I think but it is getting late!!) but nowhere does it say what is is for mixed age group. Is it 1:6 as one of my committee members(read bosses) says it is or is she trying to cut costs further?? Sorry if have rambled but all…

Just working out the new pay scales and have got a little stuck; Firstly, we are trying to work out a reasonable wage for Manager Deputy Level 3 Also, we are wondering whether we should be paying extra to the person who does the Senco role (or just for the extra hours they do, when they do them)? All help most appreciated as I know it is a difficult subject. Spiral.

Wondering if anyone else has come across this. I recently received a letter from a company offering to sell me a licence so that I can show vidoes & dvds in the setting. It said that it's illegal to show them without the licence, as such videos etc are bought for home viewing only, not for groups of children to view. I do have viedos in setting, but haven't played them for several months since the tv got broken. We have never used the set to watch tv. The videos we have are mostly donated by parents, with the odd freebie that comapnies have actually sent to us unsolicited - e.g. the BBC. So I'm wondering if this letter is genuine or someone trying to make m…

How are any of you going to tackle the new emphasis on staff upervision under the revised eyfs? How often are the supervision meetings supposed to take place, and what format are you implementing? I am struggling to work out how we will accomodate this, in a way that meets Ofsted's needs, but isn't too onerous on us.

Hi there, I had a rather confusing conversation with someone about the DBS checks, hence my question; Do committee members need a DBS check as well as an EY2? Thank you, Spiral ;-)
