Hi all Before I embark upon this request, i know that every setting is different and fully appreciate i have to find what works for me but I really need your help. Having never worked in a nursery before it looks like I will soon be in charge of organising the staffing of our new 'school nursery' and I really need a reference point from which to start. The whole process is baffling me and i'm hoping that you lovely people will share what works for you to help me find what works for me. Our nursery will open 7.45am to 6.00pm. It will offer an initial 30 places. I am employed as a teacher so will be sticking to my contracted 'contact' hours - either 4 days a week o…

What is everyone's understanding of the expiery date the old crbs. I thought it was recommended every 3 years. We are in the process of changing everyone over to DBS but if you had staff member over the 3 years would you allow them to still change nappies etc.

Does anyone have a food policy that they would be willing to share, please? It must, apparently, include procedures to talk to parents about healthy food choices. x

I am just about to pay my annual Ofsted fee..................£220............but we might be in the position of moving to different premises in the autumn. Does anyone know if a) We would have to re-register the 'new' premises ( a preschool which is currently closed) B) if we do have to re-register, will we get any refund on the amount I am about to pay for the current premises?? c) will I have to re-register as a suitable person?? I guess i should phone the 'O' people to ask really, but thought someone on here might have been in a similar position so would know the answer

HI there, Was hoping someone may know the answer to this.... Our holidays starts from 1st March. One of my staff members who works 2 days per week had booked off the last 2 days she was owed for the last week of Feb. On Thursday (the day before I went on maternity leave) she handed her notice in, making her last working day the 12th Feb. I have another member of staff who is off for a week in February and we have a policy that all holidays must be booked 4 weeks in advance. We are only a small setting with 6 staff and I have 2 weeks until I am due for a c-section and I am the owner of the business. There is no way that I can still give her the 2 days off at such shor…

Feeling frustrated to say the least and wonder why I carry on ! It seems that our professional opinions count for Jack **** - sorry just not the end of week I was hoping for. As many of you know we have been actively trying to recruit a qualified member of staff and with our inspection upon us very soon I still know we will not be able to fulfil our Welfare requirements thanks to the powers that be.
