Is there any way we can help encourage staff to use IT. At present the Deputy Manager will not use IT, but this is a concern as they cannot make referrals, access updates, print out forms, contact our local safeguarding board etc. What happens if the manager leaves and the Deputy has to stand in? Spiral :-I

We run from a village hall and therefore have to pack EVERYTHING away each day, I have finally (after about 9 months) managed to convince the village hall committee to let us use one of the notice boards in the foyer, I've bought some perspex to cover the front of it so I know it won't get ripped up etc but now I need to know what to put on it! I want it for parents information but also to advertise the fact that we run a pre-school from there..... So far I have got a border!?!? Session times, contact details, ofsted certificate, insurance certificate and obviously the name of the pre-school but there will still be lots of room left as it is a large board so does anyone …

Hi all I just wanted to update you all as you were all so lovely when we got an Inadequate rating in May. We were re-inspected last week and although officially we are supposed to wait.. I can say it is GOOD news The last 5 months have been emotionally devastating, I have questioned my future in Early Years many times, I have lost all my confidence and pulled off of the BA course I was due to start in September because I have lost all faith in myself. the journey back has been hard at times with so much conflicting advice and a total lack of clarity from Ofsted, inspections are so subjective and we really are in the hands of the individual inspectors. We were lucky to …

Hi, I was just wondering if you could share with me if your settings ensure all practitioners have the Hep B injections? Since I started at my provision 20 years ago we have always offered this to new employees. However, with funding cuts this has now been withdrawn. So I just wanted to see whether it's something other settings offer and also if it is a requirement for us as employers to offer it to them. Thanks in advance Nicky

how much is reasonable to disclose...... safeguarding

safer recruitment training - expectation is that references followed up should give a good chunk of useful info about candidate that they are suitable, right? so is it unreasonable to ask if there any safeguarding concerns? if there any health and safety concerns or any disciplinaries right? according to my LADO that's what we should be doing. so I call a chain nursery for this info and their hr dept gives me the dates person worked and that no referral has been sent to dbs. that is all. I AM NOT IMPRESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this just me? wanting more??

Hi everyone, I'm not sure this is the right section of the forum to post this but i honestly couldn't figure out where to ask for help. I have a interview as an Early Years Teacher very soon at a Primary school which is an Academy Trust School.I qualified with my EYTS this august and this is my first interview since! I am very nervous! As part of my interview process there will be a 30 min EYFS Literacy lesson that I have to deliver. Now here's the thing, 1) It doesn't say to what age group of children the lesson will be for and 2) i was in a private day care setting for my EYTS training where there was no formal, time blocks for teaching of literacy, rather i i…

Im manager of a committee run setting and we are just in the very early stages of looking at setting up another provision in another school. Where do we start? How does it work with managers etc do you need a manager for each provision (they are around the corner from each other) or can you have a deputy at each and a manager moving between the two? Do you need to get the go ahead from ofsted? etc etc etc...........any advise ??

Hi We previously used to use the CWDC qualification checker to ascertain if a qualification was acceptable. I believe that CWDC no longer exists. Can anybody please tell me how I now go about to check if a staff qualification is acceptable? Separately (but related) I have a staff that did a qualification in Spain. She has now produced a NARIC letter confirming that the qualification is equivalent to level 5. Do I just accept this or are there further checks I can carry out. Thanks sat
