I read an advert stating that they didn't take CV's because of Safer Recruitment........Now how does an application form ensure that you recruit safely..... perhaps the questions on the application form will filter out the 'undesirables' .......?

Hi myself and our staff team have been discussing our impending Paediatric first aid training to be conducted again next year. I know thinking ahead. A staff member queried whether we should also have a fully qualified person(s) for our workforce not just the paediatric ones that we currently all take every three years. Any thoughts please.

The scenario is a child unfortunately hurt them self on Friday, on going to pick up his coat and bag running and fell onto a chair.( how many times do we remind them not to run). However: He sustained an injury to his chin, and inside his mouth, accident records were completed and signed by mum after immediate first aid. Mum continued to text over the weekend to update and thanking us for our care of their son. Today on the child returning to us with mum with chocolates in hand, informed me that she had taken him to out of hours doctors on Sunday. They did not require any stitches, glue or steri strips, but the child had been given a course of antibiotics as a precau…

Dilemma
by Guest- 11 replies

Hi Another dilemma. At the end of July our preschool had more children than we found comfortable and it put pressure on us as key people, having 10 or 11 each. At the committee meeting I brought this up as a problem and committee agreed that when we reach a limit of 8 each we would stop admissions and start a waiting list. Soooooo, we have already reached that limit and have more visits booked in. So, am I legally allowed to say we are full and start the said waiting list even though we would be able to take another couple of children most sessions? I am thinking of employing another member of staff but this may take a while to take to committee, get agreement, advertis…

Tomorrow I am going to have to bring in a member of staff who is continuingly not acting as a team player, leaving others to tidy up, sits in book corner all morning reading stories(lovely, but not all morning)not bringing in play dough when its her turn, observations not submitted on time.My question is how to approach it, as have not had to do this before.I was going to call her in and ask her if anything is wrong as since September she has not seemed engaged in her position...sound ok?

Hi, I'm trying to find out the legal requirement for a maintained nursery class. I'm aware that a qualified teacher is necessary in the class ratio however is this teacher allowed to leave the nursery for meetings and training etc without being replaced by a teacher? Can they be replaced by another hlta or nn? There are 30 children 1teacher, 1level 3 and 1ta. Thanks

We have just been informed by our local authority that the termly SENCO briefings which we should attend will now be chargeable at £25 per year. I'm not really up on the new Sen code of practice but is this legal? Do we HAVE to attend these? Should the LA have to provide these free of charge to meet their statutory duties? Anyone know??
