We are a pre school, committee led setting and in process of employing a new manager. Please can you help with what we need to do to cover everything. We have 2 references, done DBS, copies of all relevant certificates (seen originals). I know we also need to notify OFSTED. What other documentation do we need on file? Any help and advice welcome!

Hi Can someone please show me where exactly it states it is a legal requirement to have a third in charge, I have run preschools and nurseries for 20 years and have not been aware its legal, I was of the understanding that it is personal choice of the nursery owner/manager but I am being told otherwise.

Does anybody know what the minimum wage is likely to be from April 2020? My staff are on salaried contracts where their pay is worked out for the year and then paid weekly, from September. I don't want to have to recalculate it in April. They are all paid over the minimum wage at the moment but want to make sure they are over any new rate. Tried to research it but couldn't find a definite answer.

Hi Has anyone recently had a funding audit? The last one my previous nursery had, someone from the LA came out and checked all funding firms from previous terms and checked each child's attendance. I am just wondering if this is still the same?? Thank you

So already I am looking forward!! I seem to have children who lack life experiences they don't appear to go anywhere or do much except in the house . If I can get some grant funding I would like to try and redress this balance a bit next year ...so if I asked you what do you think are the experiences you have offered that the children get the most out of? I'm not talking about the everyday things...we give them lots of variety ! but outings/visits in/places to go/ things to do etc etc Ideally I fit these in with their interests but they don't seem to have any!!!!!

I have got two staff retiring after many years and need to advertise for staff. One of the positions is for Deputy Manager. I am trying to clarify if I can promote for this position internally as I have a member of staff suitable for the role. The role of assistant will obviously be advertised externally following our safer recruitment policy. We want to make sure we get everything right as we are due an Ofsted inspection. It seems to make sense to be able to promote staff but wanted to make sure we are getting it right.

Does anyone else, in a preschool, have to complete an EYFS Profile and/or attend a Moderation meeting for a deferred child, with their LA?

the trustees have decided that they would like to improve our online presence ...as I have stopped a few other things recently I feel I need to support this idea. Unfortunately I don't DO facebook or any social media really (apart from on here!!) and I am feeling very nervous about it. Any hints tips or ideas to make this work well would be appreciated. What are the benefits and pitfalls.? I also would like to make sure that nothing links to me personally so what's the best way of setting it up? We also have the thorny problem of taking photos in the setting. What equipment do you use to create high quality images? I don't really want a mobile phone as this woul…
