Our chair of our committee who had an enhanced CRB when she became chair of our playgroup is stepping down as chair and joining us as staff. Does anyone know if I need to do another enhanced DBS check or can I use her current one which is only a year old?

Until this year we have always used a generic register book....but our numbers are now too high to fit in most and it was getting a bit confusing. i currently have children who attend am/pm or full day and a drop in lunch club that runs for anyone so can add another half an hour on each session/ I am struggling to come up with a formula that is both easy to fill in and easy to read. Can any of you help? i think i'm going cross eyed !!!

Just wondering what is the title for the ladies/gentlemen that work with the children? Pre-School/Nurery Assistants or Pre-school/Nursery Practitioners I think Practitioner sounds more professional and whilst researching job vacancy's 'Practitioner' seems very popular.

after reading posts about complaints procedures and people having parents who contact Ofsted, I am looking at our preschool procedure.....I need a good incident report form, we have one but its not really fit for purpose as it covers accidents but not things like injuries caused by bites etc, and also I am aware that we need a good paper trail for evidence and so I am looking for a good way of recording complaints and the conversations with parents, to show how we have responded and evaluated the situations, can anyone point in the right direction, many thanks.

Hi I'm based in a non academy school caring for 3-7 yr olds in Cornwall, the head of the school is under the understanding that now the 2yr old funding is claimed in the same way as the 3 and 4yr old funding and that as we have a 'good' ofsted outcome we can start providing care for 2yr olds in sept 2014 (it would run alongside the maintained nursery but in a separate space). Surely the head would need to inform ofsted or change its registration in some way. Any help would be much appreciated.

Is there anyone out there that can help. The owner of the setting that i was the manger suddenly closed it it a couple of weeks ago ( I did write about it previously). She gave no notice to staff or parents it was an absolute nightmare. We still do not have any reason at all for this, however I remember her getting a letter from Ofsted saying a neighbour had complained to them saying she did not have planning permission to run a nursery from her home. Originally it had been a childminders then it went to childcare on domestic premises, I remember at the Ofsted pre registration visit the inspector asked if she had planning permission and she said yes!!! A friend has ment…
