Hiya! I just wanted to hear some other opinions on recruitment tips and tricks.. We are trying to recruit Level 2 or Level 3 qualified staff, however I am not really receiving any appropriate CVs at all and if I get the odd one, the amount of money asked for as a salary is a lot more than industry average. I also just had a member of staff leave overnight, which makes it very difficult for us and means we are forced to use agency staff. Where does everybody advertise and have you found any particularly successful techniques for writing ads etc? I always found that while I worked in central London we received lots of CVs where we are now we don't...

I am looking to change my preschool constitution from PLA to another that enables staff to be on the committee and not be too demanding on how many parents should be on there too. I find it impossible to get parents to join the committee, even when I threaten them with closure, so am looking to put down in writing that a certain number of parents, staff and 'outside' people make up the committee. I do realise we need parents input but its so hard to get any to sign up,the age old problem. Has anyone changed their constitution from the PLA and is willing to share with me? Time is running out and the chair and treasurer (who are parents) have as usual left everything to me …

We are now offering out nursery places for 2 year olds and in the past it has always been our policy to offer out places according to the age of children. Eldest children were offered places first and the only other criteria were that if 2 children of exactly the same age with the same date of birth needed a place, this place would be offered out to the child who applied first unless the other child had an older sibling currently in the setting. In this case the child with a sibling took priority. I was wondering what other settings do. If you take funded 2 year olds do you give priority to these above non-funded children because there is a need, or do you take older …

Hello Everyone, Just wondered if someone would mind sharing their room leaders qualifications with me please? Here is my issue: We have an excellent room leader who is leaving us at the end of this term. I have advertised the position. What I need to know is - has anyone employed an experienced level 2 practitioner who is more like a level 3 as a room leader and is about to redo their level 3 training. We know the EYFS states there must be a level 3 qualified in each room - if we did employ a level 2 as the room leader there would be another practitioner who is level 3 qualified in the room. We just want to make sure we follow best practice. We will be doing int…

Hi everyone I need some advice, one of our 2 year olds has developed an unhealthy obsession with his key worker. He screams her name when she leaves the room, wont allow anyone else to change his nappy without kicking, hitting or fighting his way off the changing table. Can get quite spiteful in the afternoon towards another children that approach her. He refers to her as 'My ***' He has been coming to us and had the same key worker for the past year and nothing within the setting has changed. I have never had this to this extent within a setting and i have worked in childcare for the past 14 years. Any help will be welcomed
