Hi all I currently run my pre-school as a sole trader and employ one other person. I am also the registered person for ofsted. Due to financial reasons, I am thinking of changing from sole trader to a partnership with the lady I employ. Has anyone else done this and knows what is involved? Do I have to tell ofsted or would I remain the registered person? The hardest part to work out is the fact that I started up the pre-school with my own money and have kept it going for the 3yrs we have been open and not seen much in return. It is like I am just giving half of my business away for nothing! Sorry for all the questions. I am just confused as to what to do!

Hi does anyone have outside caterers in for nursery school meals. We would like to provide hot meals for lunch time but can't afford to hire a cook/chef. We are in the Oxfordshire area but don't seem able to find anyone who offers this service. What does everybody else do? If you are open 8-6 do they bring packed lunches in for lunch and afternoon tea. Please help

We have been told that we can no longer use our milk crates in the Nursery garden and definitely can not replace those that are broken. Does anyone know health and safety view on this and where I can source low cost replacements. We are being told to provide crates for the children's creative development and they love them so why is it so difficult?

We are a small group of teachers leaving this current system and are in the process of registering our Nursery (in Bromley) with OFSTED. We are eager to open in September but have been given conflicting information about the time line. Our main concern is advertising before we receive our OFSTED Registration number? We are currently about to send our EY0 and have been told that a visit from OFSTED could be 4-6 weeks? Is it wise to advertise before the visit or wait for the actual reg number/certificate?

We have a 2 yr old Chinese child who we have developmental concerns about, he has virtually no speech and other concerns. We are finding it very difficult to discuss his needs with his parents as they have virtually no English. Does anyone know off any apps or source of help apart from google translate which is not very efficient! We use a notebook which they then get a friend to translate but the answers we get back are too muddled for us to understand. Any ideas would be helpful!

I can't remember which member was asking about Monitoring Visits from Ofsted, but we had ours yesterday and I wanted to share our experience. The inspector did not arrive until Midday which was a shock - so be aware they do not always turn up at opening time. She explained exactly what she would be looking at and talked through what would be happening, we had a quick tour of the building then sat down and went through the criteria she needed to cover. Our last inspection raised two actions which were dealt with immediately, within 5 mins of the inspector leaving!! However the monitoring inspector just wanted to check that this had been done and other recommendations we…

Wondering if anyone could help me please. I am a PVI setting on a school site. One of the governors today asked if we would be interested in putting in place some antibacterial hand pumps for the Nursery children and their parents to use on our site. As the school are thinking of the same. I think it is a good idea, maybe one in the outdoor play area and in the cloak room. The school feel that it would encourage the pupils more to keep their hands clean as they are receiving complaints from parents about a lot of tummy upsets. Does anyone have any concerns on this matter or have some in place either in school or a nursery. Look forward to hearing from some…
