Hi everyone First post for me. Wondered if anyone had any experience of moving from an hourly rate pay to a salaried. I think this would help us manage our costs and outgoings more efficiently but I have no idea where to start on this process. Thank you in advance, Gemma

We currently make an extra charge to take the children round to the local primary school for lunch. Its costing us money! So do any of you cook in your premises, church hall, shared kitchen, but sole users at the time. Staff did food hygiene last year andvdaid too complicated to do our own hot meals. I was thinking pizza, chips, beans, fish fingers etc. Cook, serve no waiting around asnd keeping to a temp. Possible? Or not? Meeting Monday looking at all finances and where we can make cuts on top of cuts so possibly grasping at straws!

Hi All Wondered if you could all give me some advice. I have a little boy who will be going to school in September. When he first came to us he was very sensitive and cried after separation from mum. We got over that when Mum asked if it would be ok if he came in wearing his "special hair." Which was a disney princess plait for his hair. Now he comes in really happily sometimes with special hair, sometimes a dress or sometimes some other toy. His conversation is often about his barbies at home or make up. His parents are really good and allow him to be the person he is and in my opinion his parents attitude has contributed to the growth in his confidence. …

I haven't posted for a very long time but I have a question I can't seem to find a definitive answer too... We are a school nursery and are looking to change our hours to be in line with school. Our sessions are currently 8:30 to 11:30 and the 12:20 to 3:20. Any parents wishing their child to stay for lunch or have lunch then the afternoon session pay extra for our lunchclub. As the majority of our children are fulltime and / or using their 30 hours we were wondering if we could do away with 2 session times and lunchclub and just open 9am to 3:00 pm? This would mean lunch would be part of the 6 hours...Is that allowed? We would then say to any parents who only w…

Hi, I was wondering how many roles managers take on and how manageable it is. I took over as manager of a committee run playgroup 2 years ago and have been gradually making changes as it is a well established setting with staff who have been here a long time. As well as being manager I have key children and am the DSL and senco It's a bit much tbh but the other staff members are reluctant to take on other roles. Also how often do other settings have visits from LA's? Thankyou!

Hi all. I will be opening a new nursery later this year and I'm in the final stages of preparing the business plan. I have read the Govt guidelines on example menus for early years setting and they include a lot of food! We will be open 7.30-6.30 so will likely offer the full day menu. I've investigated various companies that will deliver in food for you as I thought this would be simpler but it works out very expensive. For those of you who have an in-house cook, how much do you budget per child per day if they will be there for the whole day? Thanks for your help
