I would like to compare the steps you take in your nursery or pre-school to manage behaviour issues. We currently have a new child who does not have any empathy for others or remorse after physically hurting other children; when I talk to him about his behaviour he just smiles - it is certainly not a nervous smile. The child justifies his actions by saying that the child in question e.g. wouldn't play his game ... let him have a turn ... or was 'running in the quiet room'. I would like to re-visit our behaviour policy/steps to deal with unwanted behaviour and to check that it is clear for the children what happens when the 'rules are broken'. Hi everyone, I'm thinking of applying for a teaching post in a Nursery School, I wondered if anyone here is a teacher in a Nursery School and if they could give me an idea of how this is / isn't different to teaching in a nursery class in a school? I currently teach (and have only ever taught!) Reception so actually any information on teaching Nursery would be beneficial! I'm especially interested in how to plan for children's next steps when they attend part time across varying days. I'm really excited about the prospect and I haven't even filled out the appication yet!

Hi all I thought it would be a good idea as the owner/ manager to renew my DBS check as it is so old. I use Capita for our staff. I know individuals pay for themselves now but I had a vague feeling that payment for managers was still paid by ofsted ? Is this just wishful thinking on my part ?

Dear all, I was wondering if anyone may be able to advise me? I have agreed to take on the role of registered person at the nursery at which I am manager. I need to find out how this process works and what needs to be done. I have tried to ask ofsted but can't seem to get through to any one on their enquire line. I believe that I need to fill out an EY2 form but I can't seem to get hold of this on the website. Advise would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, Just reading through the new revised guidance announced 31/3/14 and note the part :- Qualifications - "To count in level 3 ratios, practioners must hold GCSE English and Maths" So there has been tons of talk about this happening, I just didnt expect it to mean existing staff. Am i reading this right? We have 10 staff 8 do not hold Maths GCSE does htis mean they are no longer counted towards my level 3 ratio? thanks Lisa

Here I am at the end of the month again with not enough money in the bank to pay the staff and having to dip once again into my substantial overdraft - I have on occasions had to go over it so my husband has lent me the extra to pay them all. There should be enough money but once again a large amount of parents have not paid. 10% of our annual income is outstanding -I am sick of the excuses - I have to live as well - and enough is enough. I have been off sick for the last seven weeks and some parents are taking the p in my absence. HI all. Not sure if you remember me? Still manager of OSC but also will now be managing small pre-school. Just been notified by OFSTED (got registration visit this week) of new updated doc Registering on Early Years register. It now mentions that we should check if we should also be registered with Information Commisioners Office if we are taking photos of children. Just wondered if any of you have done this? Thanks for any info.
