I feel as if we are on our own! We are a Good with 4 Outstanding features (last Ofsted 2 years ago) setting BUT because we are in an affluent area we are missing out on lots of help, support & even money that other settings are getting to take funded 2yr olds. We have lots of spaces so much so, that if nothing changes for us, we will be closed in just over 8 months. This is really upsetting when all the LEA/Government keep going on about it not having enough childcare Just interested to hear if there are any other settings not accessing 2yr funded children.

I have just been informed by a parent that their child who was at school on Thursday has Scarlet fever. I have emailed all parents to let them know and told them what the symptoms are, I have also told them to seek medical advice if they think their child may have it and told them that children cannot return to school until being on antibiotics for 24 hours and feeling well again. I am aware that this is a notifiable disease, is there anything else I need to do or should do???

Hi, I have a member of staff in my toddler room who has a rather obsessive key worker relationship with one of her key children. She has spoilt her since she started in september, and gives her the most attention and ignores her other key children who are unsettled. I have recently had another member of staff and a few students mention things about how she acts when im not in the room (i am room leader), she has been dragging this child back to cuddle and kiss when the child wants to go and play, the child has recently started being aggresive towards other children and when she gets told no etc by her key person, she just laughs and continues hitting and biting, she gen…

How long do you keep complaints in your log? I have guessed at until after the next inspection? What does everyone else do? Thank you!

Have you ever been asked to bathe a child after each change. Parent originally wanted us to use the shower in the upstairs staff only bathroom (we are not insured to have children upstairs), and then wanted us to use a bowl and wash (as in undress & dip) the child. She is 16mths. We are happy to wash/clean using cotton wool/water if preferred and have bathed her when she had nappy rash (on parent request), but wonder what others would do/say?

Well we had a meeting today and it went ok but not as well as we expected it to go! They haven't told us they want us out but did suggest if they could no longer accommodate us then maybe we should look for new premises. The just of it is the church owns a large house opposite the church that has various meeting rooms. They are loosing that from April but I don't think it's being sold as there advertising the garden there as a community walled garden for all to use, this to me suggests they aren't selling it! But they didn't say what was happening. They just said that all users of both buildings needed to be accommodated in the church and rooms within the ch…

My setting is on a border, 500 mtrs other direction difference county! Anyway, I have a family, been with me for 4 months now, eligible for 2 year old funding. She lives in the other county from my LA. So her LA told me today that the process was too complicated to set me up to pay for her, so my LA should pay. Rang my LA who said no we don't pay - it's coming soon but not yet. Have spoken to mum and given her a list to go to her LA with saying why they should pay, but seriously what a pickle. The little one is settles and happy to move her would cause her so much upset. Anyone else had experience of this?
