Hi not sure if im posting in the right topic. I have a member of staff who is qualified level two and has been working for me for four years. She has wanted to do a level three qualification but we have been unable to get funding or support for her as she is 29. She cannot afford to pay for the training and I cannot afford to pay for it. I can't find anything on gov website other than they are consulting the new level three qualification on it but cache and another training provider are taking registrations now for september this year to undertake the training. they state that as a level two you would need to work under supervision with no key responsibilities and that th…

This may well have been discussed before, but I had a quick look and couldn't see anything. Who is running a lunch club? How are you running it? How much do you charge? Be good to hear what folks are up to...

Not sure if I am writing in the correct forum, i apologise if i'm not. I vaguely remember quite some time ago when i worked at another setting we were informed that we were no longer allowed to let the children use cardboard egg boxes for activities whether it be art and craft or otherwise. I have stuck to that in my own setting and now am being questioned by all my staff after one of them bought in some egg boxes to put in with the junk modelling and I said to throw them away. I cannot remember who said they were not allowed to be used or for what reason and am unable to find any information online. Can anyone help please?.

Am I being really petty or is it really frustrating when parents arrive 10 minutes before we open and have left the building before they should even have arrived? We open at 8 am and we have a maximum of 2 children booked on permanent early starts, at 7.50 this morning there were 8 children (not including the 2 booked earlies!) in rooms whose parents had dropped off. We have lots of staff arriving before 8 (as well as 2 early children) so locking the door would be a problem as it would mean I had to stand behind it to let each staff member in I've sent letters out in the past but as usual it's the same families who continue to ignore them and drop off early. Any sugg…

I'm the manager of a pre school and I have a question for other managers. How much input does the setting owner have? Do you get a lot of support? Do they come in and spend time working there at all? Do you rely on them for advice? Very interested to find out about this!

Sick Pay

Would love some feedback to see if you pay your staff sick pay. Do you have company sick scheme? or do you pay staff a set amount if they are sick? A member of staff is going to request to the committee, that staff are paid for sick leave. At present if they are sick and they do not get paid but.... get SSP if they are entitlied after 3 days. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all I am not sure if this is the right place or if it should be in the policy and procedures section of the forum, but I need some advice. This is quite a long story so will try and be as concise as possible. We run out of a memorial hall. in the past parking has been a real issue the primary school is about 100 yards up the road and does not have adequate parking. As a result pre-school parents, teachers and TA's for the school and parents dropping off for the school would use the car park. We had numerous complaints over the time that pre-school parents couldn't park and school parents were often parking and driving irresponsibly to the point where we had near …

Hi there, I am an owner and manager of a 30 place nursery. I have been toying with purchasing some nursery software for a while now and have decided it would be very beneficial and time saving for me. I was wondering if you had any recommendations of which one is best? Thank you
